Some countries are reporting that as many as 15 percent of patients hospitalized with the new H1N1 pandemic virus need intensive care, further straining already overburdened healthcare systems, WHO said in an update on the pandemic.
"During the winter season in the southern hemisphere, several countries have viewed the need for intensive care as the greatest burden on health services," it said.
"Preparedness measures need to anticipate this increased demand on intensive care units, which could be overwhelmed by a sudden surge in the number of severe cases." -- Reuters

In an e-mail to students Monday night, CMU officials said there have been 18 students in the last week who have contacted Student Health Services with flu-like symptoms.
University officials said they do not test for the H1N1 virus at CMU because the tests are too expensive, and it takes too long to get test results back from Centers for Disease Control. By the time the test results come back, the patient in question has already recovered from their flu symptoms, officials said.
"Students who live off campus have been asked to stay home and avoid contact with others, while students in residential housing who do not come from areas near Pittsburgh are being taken care of by staff members in Student Health Services, Housing, Dining and Student Affairs," a CMU e-mail said. "In accordance with the latest directive from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), students will remain in isolation until they are fever-free for 24 hours after they have stopped taking fever-reducing medications."
One student told Channel 11 News that half of the people on her floor are sick. "I just got over a cold. I think it's because orientation was so overwhelming. And we shook like 1,500 people's hands," said CMU freshman Olivia Harris. "Bad idea."
Another student said he just returned from India, where they're shutting down an entire city due to the swine flu. He said he appreciates the university taking the necessary precautions.
"I think it's good informative e-mail and people should know about it," said Shashank Pradahn.
To reduce the risk of an outbreak, health officials urge students, faculty and staff who feel ill with flu-like symptoms to monitor their temperature. Those who develop a fever of 100 degrees or more should isolate themselves from others and stay out of classes, officials said. They are also urged to immediately call Student Health Services.
On Tuesday, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that a massive school closing wouldn't stop the spread of the swine flu virus, saying vaccinations must be the defense against a menace that one report said could infect up to half of the population.
"What we know is that we have the virus right now traveling around the United States," Sebelius said in a nationally broadcast interview. "And having children in a learning situation is beneficial ... What we learned last spring is that shutting a school down sort of pre-emptively doesn't stop the virus from spreading."
Sebelius appeared on NBC's "Today" show one day after a special presidential advisory panel presented a grim report to the Obama White House, saying among other things that a "plausible scenario" for the United States later this year is wide-scale infections, possibly 30,000 to 90,000 deaths, mostly among young children and young adults, and perhaps as many as 300,000 sick enough to require intensive care unit treatment at hospitals.
The fall resurgence in swine flu could occur as early as September, with the beginning of the school term, and the peak infection may occur in mid-October, officials said.

Deputy Obama press secretary Bill Burton told reporters that even though the new unit will be supervised by the White House, that does not mean the CIA is out of the interrogation business." -- Fox News
"WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama has approved creation of a new, special terrorism-era interrogation unit to be supervised by the White House, a top aide said Monday, further distancing his administration from President George W. Bush's detainee policies.
The administration has also decided that all U.S. interrogators will follow the rules for detainees laid out by the Army Field Manual, according to senior administration officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the decision. That decision aims to end years of fierce debate over how rough U.S. personnel can get with terror suspects in custody." -- Yahoo News
"The High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group will be run by FBI officials and follow guidelines set by the US army's field manual, which conforms to international law.
The Democratic president has already outlawed severe methods such as waterboarding, which simulates drowning, but now other techniques such as such as subjecting prisoners to loud music for long periods and sleep deprivation will also be a thing of the past." -- Telegraph.co.uk
"U.S. President Barack Obama signed off on setting up a special terrorism interrogation team that would be placed at the FBI but report directly to the White House-based National Security Council, a top aide said Monday.
The new High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group would be led by an FBI official and comprised of law enforcement and intelligence experts, deputy White House press secretary Bill Burton told reporters covering the vacationing Obama at Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard, Mass.
The structure of the new unit differs significantly from such work under the previous administration, when the CIA had the lead and sometimes exclusive role in questioning al-Qaeda suspects.
The unit would not alter the Obama administration's decision banning harsh interrogation techniques, such as waterboarding, that were authorized by the Bush administration. The team was examining what other techniques could be used." -- CBCNews.ca

"The visit President Barack Obama and his family are paying to Martha's Vineyard next week will trigger flight restrictions that one expert called "far, far more draconian" than when President Bill Clinton vacationed on the island, the local Vineyard Gazette reported.
Flight limits issued Monday by the Federal Aviation Administration will effectively shut down the main Vineyard airport at 9 p.m. each night. All general aviation flights coming into the Vineyard will have to register 72 hours in advance and stop before arrival for a security screening at one of three airports in New York, Massachusetts or Rhode Island.
A secondary Vineyard airport, Katama, will be effectively closed while the limits are in place, from 10:30 a.m. Sunday to 5 p.m. on Aug. 30.

SPECIAL GROCERY LIST
Louise Redden, a poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face,
walked into a grocery store.
She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and asked if
he would let her charge a few groceries.
She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they
had seven children and they needed food.
John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her and requested that she leave his
store at once.
Visualizing the family needs, she said: 'Please, sir! I will bring you the
money just as soon as I can.'
John told her he could not give her credit, since she did not have a charge
account at his store..
Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the conversation
between the two. The customer walked forward and told the grocer that he
would stand good for whatever she needed for her family. The grocer said in
a very reluctant voice, 'Do you have a grocery list?'
Louise replied, 'Yes sir.' 'O.K' he said, 'put your grocery list on the
scales and whatever your grocery list weighs, I will give you that amount in
Louise hesitated a moment with a bowed head, then she reached into her purse
and took out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it. She then laid
the piece of paper on the scale carefully with her head still bowed.
The eyes of the grocer and the customer showed amazement when the scales
went down and stayed down.
The grocer, staring at the scales, turned slowly to the customer and said
begrudgingly, 'I can't believe it.'
The customer smiled and the grocer started putting the groceries on the
other side of the scales. The scale did not balance so he continued=2 0to
put more and more groceries on them until the scales would hold no more.
The grocer stood there in utter disgust. Finally, he grabbed the piece of
paper from the scales and looked at it with greater amazement.
It was not a grocery list, it was a prayer, which said:
'Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this in your hands.'
The grocer gave her the groceries that he had
gathered and stood in stunned silence.
Louise thanked him and left the store. The other customer handed a
fifty-dollar bill to the grocer and said; 'It was worth every penny of it.
Only God Knows how much a prayer weighs.'

"IF BUD AND LOU WERE HERE TODAY
You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello , and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please read on...
If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, 'Who's on First?' might have turned out something like this:
COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT
ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.
COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.
ABBOTT: Your computer?
COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.
COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.
ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?
ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?
COSTELLO: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows?
COSTELLO: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.
ABBOTT: Software for Windows?
COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have?
COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?
ABBOTT: I just did.
COSTELLO: You just did what?
ABBOTT: Recommend something.
COSTELLO: You recommended something?
COSTELLO: For my office?
COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?
COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!
ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Windows.
COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?
COSTELLO: What word?
ABBOTT: Word in Office..
COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.
ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.
COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?
ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue 'W'.
COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue 'w' if you don't start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?
COSTELLO: That's right. What do you have?
COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?
ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.
COSTELLO: What's bundled with my computer?
COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?
ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.
COSTELLO: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?
ABBOTT: One copy.
COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money?
ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.
COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?
ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!
(A few days later)
ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?
ABBOTT: Click on 'START'............."

The White House told FOX News that third-party groups sending online petitions to the official administration Web site could be to blame for a rash of e-mails that have gone out to people who never requested them. The theory is that these groups are including the names and e-mails of members and petition-signers along with the petitions themselves, in turn embedding those e-mails into the White House distribution list.
I'm sure this will be used by Obama's administration to describe this burning email situation...
Word Of The Day-Nugatory:Nugatory Definition
* Main Entry: nu·ga·to·ry
* Pronunciation: \ˈnü-gə-ˌtȯr-ē,
1 : of little or no consequence : trifling, inconsequential
2 : having no force : inoperative
synonyms see vain
Word Of The Day-Nugatory:Nugatory Definition is from Merriam-Webster Dictionary
The White House has already taken steps to add filters to its site in a bid to reduce the number of people who are receiving these e-mails.
But online petitions are not the only culprit, and critics say the White House still has some explaining to do.
Several people who received the White House e-mails have told FOX News they're not members of any organization and have not been advocating for any cause. And they're puzzled over how the White House got their information.
"I find it very disturbing and a little scary to say the least," said Sarah Griffith, who got a widely circulated e-mail on health care reform from senior adviser David Axelrod last week. "I have no idea how they got my e-mail address, and they have it."

There's word that the longest Conga line was created at Lollapalooza this month.
Dan Deacon, a name synonymous with the one man band, at this year's Lollapalooza, "organizes the festival’s longest conga line, which snakes its way through a tunnel of upraised arms around the northern half of Hutchinson Field. Ain’t no party like a Dan Deacon party. Best set of the festival so far." Leisureblogs.ChicagoTribune.com
Actually, even though that sounds like a lot of fun, "Calle Ocho earned an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records when 119,986 people formed the world’s longest conga line on March 13, 1988." LynxLee
For some 1988 may fire sirens off of being ages ago. However, to those of us who graduated from high school in the Chicago (Lollapalooza) area, it burns in memory like just reminiscent of yesterday.

A racially charged activist group called “Color of Change” founded by Van Jones, a special advisor to the Obama Administration, is trying to silence popular radio and Fox News personality Glenn Beck by calling for a boycott of Beck’s TV advertisers. On July 28th, Beck made a comment on the Fox & Friends morning show about Obama’s reaction to the arrest of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. During the discussion of “Professor-Gate,” Beck connected the President’s past association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright to Obama’s comment that Cambridge police officer, Sgt. James Crowley, acted stupidly. Though Beck acknowledged most of the Obama administration is in fact white, he concluded that the President’s world experience made him a “racist.” Now “Color of Change” has bullied at least five of Beck’s big advertisers -- SC Johnson, Progressive Insurance, Geico, Procter & Gamble and Nexus Lexis -- to pull their ads from Beck’s national cable program. Jones, the founder of “Color of Change,” was named Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality -- a key administrative post -- this past March."HumanEvents.com
With the above not a big surprise, here is what was out before Obama was even president.
"The Media’s Obama Love Affair
Media Monitor By Andy Selepak January 15, 2007
It seems that many in our media want to elect Senator Barack Hussein Obama as president. In fact, the October 23, 2006 issue of Time magazine ran a cover story with Obama's picture and the headline, "Why Barack Obama Could Be The Next President." In another edition, Time magazine named Obama one of "the world's most influential people," and included him on a list of 20 "Leaders and Revolutionaries." What's behind the media hype?
The first thing that must be said is that, true to form, reporters are acting like Democrats, which they probably are. After Obama won the Democratic nomination for Senator in 2004, one of Obama's opponents in the primary, Illinois' Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas, called him "The Tiger Woods of the Democratic Party." The love affair for Obama even extends to the senior Senator from Illinois, Dick Durbin, who started an online petition urging Obama to run for President. It is posted on Durbin's campaign website. Like a schoolgirl with a crush, Durbin starts his "Run, Barack, Run!" message with, "As many of you may know, I'm a huge Barack Obama fan." But having Durbin in his camp may not be the best thing going. After all, Durbin was forced to apologize for smearing U.S. personnel as murderers and torturers. Perhaps his judgment on Obama is similarly flawed." Accuracy in Media
Well, isn't that just so beautiful. Can you feel the love? Well, here is another side from the beginning of the presidency.
"With regulatory-minded lawmakers set to oversee commerce and communications, and the credit crisis compelling even Republicans to rethink laissez-faire, there will probably be more power to oversee marketing at the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Trade Commission, and more rules about everything from product placement to behavioral marketing.
"Nobody knows what's going to happen," concedes Dan Jaffe, executive vice president of government relations at the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). "But there is the largest potential agenda we have faced in many years, and a substantial turnover at the congressional level." MediaPost.com
Time is winding down for those who actually have opinions of their own...
"Boycott ABC Advertisers: Propaganda Arm of the Obama White House
Well, ABC is one of the propaganda arms, anyway. When it comes to Health Care, ABC's Charlie (look down-my-nose-at-Sarah-Palin) Gibbs and Diane Sawyer will be asking "tough questions" of President Obama, in the White House about the President's health care plan. Every once in a while I pine for the Fairness Doctrine. Maybe then, the MSM would find some balance. Never mind. It would be worse. At least there's alternative media." RightWingNews
So, you see, there has been a crystal ball from before President Obama took office. If you want to state your opinion of him, if it is one that he has not scripted, you may want to get it out now. ... With my lack of advertising revenue, I don't have to worry about losing advertisers. So, here is my opinion...Obama is the biggest Democrat! Okay, you already knew that I'm not a fan.

WASHINGTON – Retail sales disappointed in July and the number of newly laid-off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits rose unexpectedly last week. The latest government reports reinforced concerns about how quickly consumers will be able to contribute to a broad economic recovery.
"There is really no positive spin to put on these numbers," Jennifer Lee, an economist with BMO Capital Markets, wrote in a research note. "The U.S. consumer remains very weak. The jobs situation, while slowly improving, is still dismal."
The Commerce Department said Thursday that retail sales fell 0.1 percent last month. Economists had expected a gain of 0.7 percent.
While autos, helped by the start of the Cash for Clunkers program, showed a 2.4 percent jump — the biggest in six months — there was widespread weakness elsewhere. Gasoline stations, department stores, electronics outlets and furniture stores all reported declines.
Some of Europe's largest economies also benefited from government programs to support the auto industry.

"Czech Republic Refuses Baxter Swine Flu Vaccine On Safety Grounds
Health officials admit fast tracked shots could cause deaths
Government health officials in the Czech Republic have refused to buy H1N1 flu vaccines from US pharmaceutical firm Baxter International, citing safety concerns.
According to a report by the Czech News Agency CTK, one of the largest English language news outlets in the country, the Czech Health Ministry has halted talks with Baxter citing “the firm’s inability to guarantee that the vaccine is safe and who will bear the risks for possible side-effects.”
The country plans to buy vaccines to cover 25 percent of its population of ten million, but has said it will not buy swine flu vaccine from Baxter before it has acquired a European registration.
“It is a pity, but, unfortunately, at the moment when we accepted the bids, Baxter was unable to confirm that it will deliver a registered vaccine,” Health Minister Dana Juraskova said.
Instead, the country will likely buy its supplies from Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline, but only after the vaccines have undergone regular clinical tests and gained European Medicines Agency registration.
In another CTK report, Deputy Health minister Marek Snajdr was quoted as saying the vaccine “may have side effects and it may even cause death if used”.
Confirmed cases of H1N1 flu in the country remain below 150, according to all estimates, and no one has died from the virus."

By now you've probably heard that Sarah Palin has called the Obama Administration's Healthcare Reform Bill "Evil". Well, here is a portion of her statement from Facebook...
"As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no!
The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil." -- Facebook-Sarah Palin Statement
"An interpretation of the phrase "survival of the fittest" to mean "only the fittest organisms will prevail" (a view sometimes derided as "Social Darwinism") is not consistent with the actual theory of evolution. Any individual organism which succeeds in reproducing itself is "fit" and will contribute to survival of its species, not just the "physically fittest" ones, though some of the population will be better adapted to the circumstances than others. A more accurate characterization of evolution would be "survival of the fit enough." - WikipediaNot surprising, there is a great deal of backlash that seems to be coming out of left field regarding this Obama Administration Healthcare Reform Bill. Maybe the reality check has already begun for those who mistakenly voted for Obama in the first place. Perhaps the reality check needs to happen for those who seem to think that the anger is somehow contrived and staged regarding this massive Trillion Dollar plan.
"Demagogue - A person who gains power through impassioned public appeals to the emotions and prejudices of a group by speaking or writing."WikipediaA poll taken previously in Utah regarding the Healthcare Exchange isn't surprising either.

Does this sound like this past election cycle? -- "As the parties loyal to the democratic, parliamentary republic found themselves unable to agree on counter-measures, their Grand Coalition broke up and was replaced by a minority cabinet. The new Chancellor...had to implement his measures through the president's emergency decrees. Tolerated by the majority of parties, this rule by decree would become the norm over a series of unworkable parliaments and paved the way for authoritarian forms of government."WikipediaThe Heritage Foundation published an article regarding their concerns about this Healthcare Reform Bill and the Exchange.
"Members of Congress, pursuing President Barack Obama's health policy agenda, want to create a national health insurance exchange as a platform for a public health care plan to compete against private health insurance.
...While a national health insurance exchange is sometimes described as a nationwide pool of health insurance providers that would facilitate access to coverage for individuals and employers, its major function would be to provide a platform for a government-run public health plan that, using Medicare-style administrative pricing, would "compete" against private health insurance. Congressional champions of the idea say that this would increase the range of choice and competition available to Americans. In fact, it would do exactly the opposite."
"Nazi eugenics were Nazi Germany's racially-based social policies that placed the improvement of the race through eugenics at the center of their concerns and targeted those humans they identified as "life unworthy of life" including but not limited to the criminal, degenerate, dissident, feeble-minded, homosexual, idle, insane, religious, and weak, for elimination from the chain of heredity. More than 400,000 people were sterilized against their will, while 70,000 were killed in the Action T4." -- WikipediaHere is a little glimpse of the lack of power that states are about to have with the new health care reform bill.
"(c) Ceasing Operation-
(1) IN GENERAL- A State-based Health Insurance Exchange may, at the option of each State involved, and only after providing timely and reasonable notice to the Commissioner, cease operation as such an Exchange, in which case the Health Insurance Exchange shall operate, instead of such State-based Health Insurance Exchange, with respect to such State (or States).
(2) TERMINATION; HEALTH INSURANCE EXCHANGE RESUMPTION OF FUNCTIONS- The Commissioner may terminate the approval (for some or all functions) of a State-based Health Insurance Exchange under this section if the Commissioner determines that such Exchange no longer meets the requirements of subsection (b) or is no longer capable of carrying out such functions in accordance with the requirements of this subtitle. In lieu of terminating such approval, the Commissioner may temporarily assume some or all functions of the State-based Health Insurance Exchange until such time as the Commissioner determines the State-based Health Insurance Exchange meets such requirements of subsection (b) and is capable of carrying out such functions in accordance with the requirements of this subtitle.
(3) EFFECTIVENESS- The ceasing or termination of a State-based Health Insurance Exchange under this subsection shall be effective in such time and manner as the Commissioner shall specify." [bold added]
"With this combination of legislative and executive power, Hitler's government further suppressed the remaining political opposition" - repeated from above"In reality, the result would be a massive erosion of private health insurance. According to a recent analysis by the Lewin Group, the nation's most prominent health policy econometrics firm, assuming full implementation of the House bill, 103.9 million Americans would be covered under the public plan, and 83.4 million of them would no longer be covered by private health insurance. Moreover, a federally designed health insurance exchange would consolidate federal control over the financing and delivery of Americans' medical services.
Initially, Americans may respond positively to the idea of a national health insurance exchange, but they are almost certainly unclear about its functions, how it would affect them, or which health policy problems it would solve. The maddeningly elastic language used in the health care debate can conceal as much as convey the true meaning of proposals embodied in the complex provisions of the mammoth House and Senate health care bills." - The Heritage Foundation
"Applied to human beings, "survival of the fittest" was interpreted as requiring racial purity and killing off "life unworthy of life." The first victims were children with physical and developmental disabilities; those killings occurred in a programme dubbed Action T4." -Wikipedia
If you are wondering what all of the hubbub is about regarding the care of the elderly, disabled, chronically ill and so forth, here is a little snippet of the bill for you to noodle on.
"According to the author of Medical Killing and the Psychology of Genocide psychiatrist Robert Jay Lifton, the policy went through a number of iterations and modifications: "Of the five identifiable steps by which the Nazis carried out the principle of "life unworthy of life," coercive sterilization was the first. There followed the killing of “impaired” children in hospitals; and then the killing of “impaired” adults, mostly collected from mental hospitals, in centers especially equipped with carbon monoxide gas. This project was extended (in the same killing centers) to “impaired” inmates of concentration and extermination camps and, finally, to mass killings in the extermination camps themselves." -- Life Unworthy of Life - WikipediaBill Link

Such amounts shall remain available until expended.

"Sparta must be regarded as the first Völkisch State. The exposure of the sick, weak, deformed children, in short, their destruction, was more decent and in truth a thousand times more humane than the wretched insanity of our day which preserves the most pathological subject, and indeed at any price, and yet takes the life of a hundred thousand healthy children in consequence of birth control or through abortions, in order subsequently to breed a race of degenerates burdened with illnesses" -- Wikipedia

(1) seeks to--
(A) improve health outcomes;
(B) reduce health disparities (including racial, ethnic, and other disparities);
(C) provide efficent and affordable care;
(D) address geographic variation in the provision of health services; or
(E) prevent or manage chronic illness; " [bold added]
"The Law for the Prevention of Hereditarily Diseased Offspring, proclaimed on July 14, 1933, required physicians to register every case of hereditary illness known to them, except in women over forty-five years of age. Physicians could be fined for failing to comply. In 1934 the first year of the Law's operation, nearly 4,000 people appealed against the decisions of sterilization authorities. 3,559 of the appeals failed. By the end of the Nazi regime, over 200 Hereditary Health Courts were created, and under their rulings over 400,000 people were sterilized against their will." -- Wikipedia
"SEC. 206. OTHER FUNCTIONS.
(b) Coordination of Risk Pooling- The Commissioner shall establish a mechanism whereby there is an adjustment made of the premium amounts payable among QHBP offering entities offering Exchange-participating health benefits plans of premiums collected for such plans that takes into account (in a manner specified by the Commissioner) the differences in the risk characteristics of individuals and employers enrolled under the different Exchange-participating health benefits plans offered by such entities so as to minimize the impact of adverse selection of enrollees among the plans offered by such entities."
With so much to research and the fact that it is now 1:00 in the morning, I will conclude this post with a note that I will be on top of this issue in coming days and an additional note that people need to speak up and make their voices heard...now!

In Salina, a steeple was blown off the roof of a church at midmorning Monday. Winds estimated at 70 mph broke windows at a home in the Morris County town of Council Grove.
Dean Speaks, interim director of Saline County emergency management, said no injuries were reported, but teams were being sent out at midday to assess the damage.
The violent weather moved into the Salina area about 10:45 a.m. with hail and heavy rain. Speaks said the storm lasted about an hour.
Several homes in Salina were flooded. Speaks said a few house fires were also reported, likely sparked from downed power lines." -- Read From Source
"Are you ready for this year's Perseid Meteor Shower? What will be the best place to watch and when will be the best date to see the most "shooting stars"? Follow along and let's find out…
The Perseid meteor shower has a wonderful and somewhat grisly history. Often referred to as the "Tears of St. Lawrence" this annual shower coincidentally occurs roughly about the same date as the saint's death is commemorated on August 10. While scientifically we know the appearance of the shooting stars are the by-products of comet Swift-Tuttle, our somewhat more superstitious ancestors viewed them as the tears of a martyred man who was burned for his beliefs. Who couldn't appreciate a fellow who had the candor to quip "I am already roasted on one side and, if thou wouldst have me well-cooked, it is time to turn me on the other." while being burned alive? If nothing else but save for that very quote, I'll tip a wave to St. Lawrence at the sight of a Perseid!
While the fall rate – the number of meteors seen per hour – of the Perseids has declined in recent years since Swift-Tuttle's 1992 return, the time to begin your Perseid watch is now. The random rate has already increased sharply and there is no guaranteed that skies will be clear on the predicted peak time – traditionally August 12 at approximately 11:00 GMT. The tears of St. Lawrence are already beginning to fall! Let's join John Chumack via his Northeast Sky Camera #2 in his backyard Observatory in Dayton, Ohio, USA, for a look. "TAIPEI, Taiwan — A mudslide touched off by a deadly typhoon buried a remote mountain village, leaving at least 400 people unaccounted for Monday, and military rescue helicopters unable to land because of the slippery ground dropped food to desperate survivors.
Typhoon Morakot slammed Taiwan over the weekend with as much as 80 inches (two meters) of rain, inflicting the worst flooding the island has seen in at least a half-century.
The storm submerged large swaths of farmland in chocolate-brown muck and swamped city streets before crossing the 112-mile-wide Taiwan Strait and hitting China, where it forced the evacuation of nearly 1 million people.
A disaster appeared to be unfolding around the isolated southern village of Shiao Lin, which was hit by a mudslide Sunday at about 6 a.m. local time — while many people were still asleep — and was cut off by land from the outside world." -- Read from Source here

Aug. 11 (Bloomberg) -- A magnitude-6.6 earthquake struck Japan’s Tsuruga Bay area southwest of Tokyo early today, the national weather agency said. A tsunami warning was issued and a 60-centimeter (2-foot) wave hit the coast about six minutes later, NHK Television reported.
The earthquake struck at 5:07 a.m. local time 20 kilometers (12 miles) below the seabed, about 170 kilometers southwest of Tokyo near the Izu peninsula, the agency said on its Web site.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries." -- Read From Source Here

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Two Russian attack submarines have been cruising in the Atlantic off the East Coast of the United States, a senior defense official said Wednesday.
Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said their presence is not causing alarms to go off.
"So long as they are operating in international waters, as, frankly, we do around the world, and are behaving in a responsible way, they are certainly free to do so, and it doesn't cause any alarm within this building," he said.
It has been years since Russia operated near the U.S. seaboard, thousands of miles from home ports.
"What's interesting is, they haven't been able to do this in some time, and now they are. It indicates a return to their ability to do this," the senior defense official said.
He viewed the patrol as an example of Russia showing the United States and the world its expeditionary forces, part of a continuing trend. He said the Russians have recently been a partner in anti-piracy operations around the world. And last year the Russian Navy conducted a "tour around the world," pulling into ports throughout Latin America."
Perhaps they are only celebrating the new health care reform...or at least the logo. Just take a look below. The logo to the left is the official health care reform logo from my.barackobama.com. The logo to the right is the official Reichsadler logo.
Interesting, eh? Actually, not shocking either. That is the sad part.

"Sarah Palin is expected to make a visit next week to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in California, in what would be her first public appearance outside Alaska since resigning as governor, and the sponsors said on Wednesday the event will be closed to the media." -- Reuters.com
How would things be if Palin was President? We wouldn't be on a continual campaign with townhalls for everything. We wouldn't be dealing with a "Health Care Reform" bill that will get shoved through on 51 votes as a "budget" item and cost in more ways than just the growing deficit.
"The debate over President Obama's top domestic priority is escalating as Congress takes a month-long recess. Several lawmakers have been booed, jeered, and occasionally cheered by protesters on their home turfs at town hall meetings on health care reform." -- Fox News
Yes, if Sarah Palin was president, the reason why we are born with two ears and one mouth would be practiced and not challenged, and compassion may actually be practiced as a way of life and an example from a leader, instead of what is obviously shown in this picture CLICK HERE
Yes, if Sarah Palin was president, there wouldn't be "the blame game" after 6+ months in office. While I am sure that she is only human and far from perfect, we probably would see some humility coming from her, instead of the constant arrogance we see in the Obama aura. Can you trust a president who has every media event choreographed?
"As the Ticket reported yesterday, Obama answered questions at a town hall at Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, Va., about protecting the uninsured, giving consumers a public option and converting medical records from paper to digital files. The White House portrayed the town-hall meeting as one in a series of public outreach events, a way for the president to keep his finger on the pulse of public opinion, and in turn to sway Americans on the complex and contentious issue.
This morning, the Washington Post is reporting that "of the seven questions the president answered, four were selected by his staff from videos submitted to the White House Web site or from those responding to a request for 'tweets.' " And the three audience members he called on randomly? The Post says "all turned out to be members of groups with close ties to his administration: the Service Employees International Union, Health Care for America Now, and Organizing for America, which is a part of the Democratic National Committee."
None of this would surprise any good White House advance staffer. Better to control the crowd, screen the questions, anticipate the topics. And, to be fair, a college campus in a Democratic county might be expected to produce friendly questioners.
The problem is that Obama himself made an issue of transparency, promising an administration that allowed the public to see what its government was doing. In fact on Jan. 22, his first full day in office, Obama issued a series of executive orders instructing government agencies to open their files, saying, "Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency." -- L.A. Times
Yes, while the vote has been cast for the current U.S. president (sounds like terminology for the "Golden Globes"), the opinions of U.S. citizens are beginning to turn. While I wish the tide was changing much more quickly, these programs that are being shoved through at the speed-of-light are sure to change the tide by the next presidential election...I hope.
I pray that our U.S. Constitution holds out for this stretch of "change". I just pray that my children won't be paying for the "change" the rest of their lives (which will be cut short because of the new health care reform).
"In 1930's Germany, the new socialist government of Adolf Hitler (NAZI National Socialist Workers' Party) began indoctrinating children in the quasi-military organization, the Hitler Youth, to inform on their parents should they overhear discussions subversive to the policies of the Leader. As the noose was tightened, local community organizers were appointed to watch their neighbors and were told to report subversive comments to the bureaucrats above them. Neighbors informed on neighbors, some for reasons of patriotism or loyalty, some from fear. A modern inquisition ensued; a terror to free thought and expression. Increasingly harsh penalties were meted out to those who dared to dissent...
The socialist governments of the Soviet Union, Fascist Italy, N. Korea, Cuba, Yugoslavia, and the People's Republic of China employed the same citizen informer techniques. Citizens of those societies were reduced to either silence or whispered discussion only among those they trusted the most. Of course none of those things would ever occur here in the land of the free. But wait...
Now on the White House website posted by Macon Phillips comes an eerily similar request for citizens to inform on their neighbors. It states,
"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to the end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can't keep track of all of them here at the White House, we're asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to email@example.com."
Read this again carefully. The government of the United States is openly asking citizens to report rumors, the contents of casual conversation, and the contents of emails. They decry the fact that they are unable to "keep track" of the communication between citizens effectively and are asking for help from informers. Of course forwarded emails would contain the electronic addresses of the sender." -- American Thinker

Senate Republicans are raising concerns that extending the "cash for clunkers" program would use deficit spending to pay for a program that, according to its supporters, has already met its objectives.
The cash for clunkers exchange program has turned lawmakers into victims of their own success. Now some senators are questioning why taxpayers should continue to foot the bill for something that, according to supporters, has already achieved its goals.
The program, approved in June, pays people to trade in their gas-guzzling "clunkers" for new, fuel-efficient cars. It has helped boost auto dealers' sales numbers, and it's gotten a heap of inefficient vehicles off the road.
But the program, which was set to expire on Nov. 1, has already spent pretty much all of the $1 billion the government set aside for it, leading Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to say that the "wildly popular" program should be extended with additional funds.
The House voted to give the program a $2 billion lifeline on Friday, and LaHood now is putting pressure on the Senate to approve the extension before it adjourns for August recess at the end of the week. He said Monday he expects it will pass.
A senior Democratic adviser told FOX News that Senate leaders hope to act on the extension later this week.
But there was never a mandate in the original legislation that said the program had to last until November.
"Program runs through Nov 1, 2009 or when the funds are exhausted, whichever comes first," reads the government Web site for the "clunkers" program.
The exhaustion of funds simply came before the expiration date. Republicans are suggesting it's too late to change the allocation now.
I just think this is a great example of the stupidity that's coming out of Washington right now," Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said on "FOX News Sunday," adding that the Senate needs to "slow this thing down."
"We estimated this would cost $1 billion," DeMint said. "Now they're saying we need $2 billion more. Our children and grandchildren can't afford to make these car dealers well right now."
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has threatened to block the bill.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, in prepared remarks, said Monday that the lifeline request just shows how poor the original spending estimates were.
Though supporters are talking about pulling the additional $2 billion from existing stimulus funds, that hasn't quelled Republican concerns.
McConnell spokesman Don Stewart said that cash is still "borrowed money."
"They can say it's paid for, but it's paid for with a credit card. ... It's like making your minimum payment through a cash advance of another credit card," he said.
However, because the "clunkers" program was originally authorized at $4 billion -- not $1 billion -- some supporters had wanted to review its funding this fall anyway to see if more money could be allocated.

The Immoral Minority...by the way...block these weasles.
"According to my source Sarah is finished with Todd and has decided to end their marriage.
She has purchased land in Montana (I wonder whose donations paid for that?), and may be considering moving herself and the children as far away from Alaska as she can get.
Do you remember all of that talk about her missing wedding ring during the three part going away picnics? Well it turns out that ring now sleeps with the fishes. Apparently in a fit of anger Sarah stripped the ring from her finger and tossed it into a lake. (No I did not think to ask WHICH lake so I cannot confirm if it is Lake Lucille, on which her house is located, or some other lake. I apologize for not getting clarification, but I was a little tired last night and so was my source.)
So it appears that the reason Palin has been so quiet, and has given her tweeting fingers a rest, is NOT because of any master plan, or carefully orchestrated new direction, but simply the result of the emotional stress that prevents her from communicating with her fan base or making any public appearances."
A Palin Divorce? Todd Palin and Sarah Palin are set to divorce, if you believe net chatter today. Sarah Palin divorce reports claim “sources in Wasilla and Anchorage have confirmed the news”.
Of course who hasn’t confirm the Palin divorce reports are the Palins themselves!
Reports are claiming the Palin resignation speech last Sunday featured Todd bothered and then not with his wife after the event. Chatter also claims Sarah Palin wasn’t wearing her wedding ring following the speech."

"Word of a pending divorce between former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and former First Dude Todd is gaining a lot of traction in Internet land.
“Palin divorce” is the fourth-most searched topic right now on Google Trends.
There’s only one problem with that. It’s not true. Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton is shooting down the story by an Alaskan blogger who claimed to have inside information on a split.
Stapleton posted a response to the charge on Palin’s Facebook page.
“Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story. There is no truth to the recent “story” (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that the Palins are divorcing. The Palins remain married, committed to each other and their family, and have not purchased land in Montana (last week it was reported to be Long Island),” Stapleton wrote." Here is a link to her Facebook page. Perhaps getting the truth from the source is the best medicine.
