"Obama Official Linked to Racially Charged Boycott of Glenn Beck

A racially charged activist group called “Color of Change” founded by Van Jones, a special advisor to the Obama Administration, is trying to silence popular radio and Fox News personality Glenn Beck by calling for a boycott of Beck’s TV advertisers. On July 28th, Beck made a comment on the Fox & Friends morning show about Obama’s reaction to the arrest of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. During the discussion of “Professor-Gate,” Beck connected the President’s past association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright to Obama’s comment that Cambridge police officer, Sgt. James Crowley, acted stupidly. Though Beck acknowledged most of the Obama administration is in fact white, he concluded that the President’s world experience made him a “racist.” Now “Color of Change” has bullied at least five of Beck’s big advertisers -- SC Johnson, Progressive Insurance, Geico, Procter & Gamble and Nexus Lexis -- to pull their ads from Beck’s national cable program. Jones, the founder of “Color of Change,” was named Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality -- a key administrative post -- this past March."HumanEvents.com

With the above not a big surprise, here is what was out before Obama was even president.

It seems that many in our media want to elect Senator Barack Hussein Obama as president. In fact, the October 23, 2006 issue of Time magazine ran a cover story with Obama's picture and the headline, "Why Barack Obama Could Be The Next President." In another edition, Time magazine named Obama one of "the world's most influential people," and included him on a list of 20 "Leaders and Revolutionaries." What's behind the media hype?

The first thing that must be said is that, true to form, reporters are acting like Democrats, which they probably are. After Obama won the Democratic nomination for Senator in 2004, one of Obama's opponents in the primary, Illinois' Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas, called him "The Tiger Woods of the Democratic Party." The love affair for Obama even extends to the senior Senator from Illinois, Dick Durbin, who started an online petition urging Obama to run for President. It is posted on Durbin's campaign website. Like a schoolgirl with a crush, Durbin starts his "Run, Barack, Run!" message with, "As many of you may know, I'm a huge Barack Obama fan." But having Durbin in his camp may not be the best thing going. After all, Durbin was forced to apologize for smearing U.S. personnel as murderers and torturers. Perhaps his judgment on Obama is similarly flawed." Accuracy in Media

Well, isn't that just so beautiful. Can you feel the love? Well, here is another side from the beginning of the presidency.

"With regulatory-minded lawmakers set to oversee commerce and communications, and the credit crisis compelling even Republicans to rethink laissez-faire, there will probably be more power to oversee marketing at the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Trade Commission, and more rules about everything from product placement to behavioral marketing.

"Nobody knows what's going to happen," concedes Dan Jaffe, executive vice president of government relations at the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). "But there is the largest potential agenda we have faced in many years, and a substantial turnover at the congressional level." MediaPost.com

Time is winding down for those who actually have opinions of their own...

So, you see, there has been a crystal ball from before President Obama took office. If you want to state your opinion of him, if it is one that he has not scripted, you may want to get it out now. ... With my lack of advertising revenue, I don't have to worry about losing advertisers. So, here is my opinion...Obama is the biggest Democrat! Okay, you already knew that I'm not a fan.

Layoff Letterman! It's in bad taste!

Lay Off Letterman! It's in bad taste! Don't blame it on your writers. You are the one who delivered the lines and continue to promote them.

Palin eviscerates Letterman
After Letterman made crude sexual jokes about Palin looking like a 'slutty flight attendant' and her 14 year old daughter getting knocked up by Alex Rodriguez, Sarah Palin fought back -- and she is absolutely destroying the lame late night host. To demonstrate their seething hatred for Palin, many in the mainstream media are still trying to find the negative for Palin in this spat. Olbermann called her a 'delusional maniac' and Yahoo had this headline running all day calling her solid interview with Matt Lauer 'awkward' -- but all in all it's a fairly universal decision for Palin. Even Joy Behar and Barbara Walters took Palin's side on the matter today on The View. Glenn talks about how Palin is getting the best of it with Letterman.

Why can these guys get away with such poor taste and have most people in the media support them? Doesn't this remind you of Perez Hilton? We all know where that led in regard to Carrie Prejean.

Prejean, who also appeared on "Geraldo at Large," stood by her belief she was stripped of her title due to her political views.

"They are not going to tell the truth on a lot of things. I've heard I've missed 52 missed appearances. Since the press conference was only a month ago, that would be two a day," said Prejean.

She also says Lewis asked her to give him a "response in writing" over a Playboy partial nudity photo shoot — a request that "absolutely shocked" her.

So, essentially, the only way you can succeed in this world of ours is if you defame someone else's name or you hold a place on the planet as a victim and martyr, expect special attention and have zero values. Anyone else have a point of view on this subject matter?

It's sad that these type of issues have come to mean so much because there are so many REALLY important things, such as pay monitoring by the Treasury, beginning with TARP companies.

GLENN: Okay, sure. You know, there's been the occasional destination of stimulus funding that seems a tad frivolous. Occasionally once in a while there's like, what are they doing for the zoo? But it's not like the government is just handing money out to anybody. I mean, it's not like they're building bridges for the richest man around or anything. Okay, they are, but it's an isolated it's only one. There's only up with richest guy around, the richest guy in the world. That's it, just one, and that's the only one they are building the bridge for. It's one little bridge. So you got a problem? Okay, so they made a mistake, one. You people, why do you hate him so much?

In Washington millions of your stimulus dollars are going to pay for a bridge to adjoin two campuses at Microsoft. You know, the company, owned by the richest guy in the world. You know, that one, yeah. The bridge would employ about 400 people for 18 whole months. Why 18 months? Well, when they're done, they just have to build another bridge right next to it so that way they can tear down the first one and then keep alternating it forever. I mean, only 18 months. Let's keep this gravy train going. It will eternally employ 400 people if we do it that way, give Microsoft employees a safe way to get to work, you know, from work. And then when they're leaving work, they can also go to work using this bridge. It's fantastic. Quote: Let's face it. Microsoft is one of the most lucrative companies in the country, says Taxpayers for Common Sense. Sure, they could have easily funded this out of pocket change but this is really about getting while the getting is good. Uncle Sam has a big wallet that's there for the taking, and Microsoft was happy to let them pick up part of the tab. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I mean, they could have had Microsoft pay for their own bridge, but what if they didn't? What would happen to all of that elevated walking in between the two campuses, you know. Don't we have an obesity problem in this country? I just saw on television that the majority of 4 year olds are obese. Isn't there a government program for something like that? I'm just wondering. I mean, why should we stop at the one bridge for the rich guy, you know? Let me tell you something. Our bathroom here at the Mercury studios is not all that nice. I don't have, like, towel warmers or any of those. Those are sweet. Don't have them. We could use an upgrade. Where's my stimulus? I mean, we also, you know, we have right behind Stu in the studio here, we have one of those little minifridges we keep nice cold Zero in it. It's fantastic. But how come I mean, don't I deserve a big standup, you know, Viking refrigerator? Wouldn't that be sweet, huh? I mean, I'm not asking for a bridge. Just a Viking refrigerator. Oh, and I'd like a water slide down to my car instead of the boring elevator. Where's my stimulus?

By the way, the project is going to cost you $25 million. Well, that's what they originally said but they figured out some ways to spend some more. It skyrocketed now to $36 million. What's $11 million these days! It's nothing! I mean, oh, I'm sure that $11 million is completely necessary, you know? It has to be. Somebody has got to pay for, you know, fixing all the bugs in Vista. You know, somebody's got to pay for that. I mean, who's going to do it besides the richest man in the world, if he's busy using the richest man in the world's bank account to build his own bridges! It doesn't make any sense! Concentrate on fixing the bugs in Vista. We'll do everything else for you.

VOICE: That was even more overwhelming evidence that we are destined to be a bunch of socialist pigs very, very soon on the Glenn Beck program.

GLENN: I'm just going to GlennBeck.com because Stu just told me that... there it is. The picture of the day. That's the bridge? Wow.

STU: Yeah. By the way, Glenn, Microsoft is kicking some of the money in. It's only costing us $11 million out of the $36 million which I know, that's it.

GLENN: Oh, no. Oh, no, it's only costing us 11. I thought it was

STU: Yeah, they are paying for some of their own bridge. They are paying

GLENN: Are they really?

STU: You want to talk about generosity, they have that Bill Gates has that whole charity setup where he's giving away money. Like this is the sort of charity we're talking about. He's paying for a portion of his own bridge to bridge the gap between two campuses of his own company. And I think that's

GLENN: All they have to really do is if they want to go to the other campus, they just get on the freeway there and then drive an exit and then turn around and then come to the next one.

STU: Well, they did quote this is ridiculous, this is a ridiculous spin because they did quote one guy who rides a bike and he did say that it's going to save him a couple of miles on the bike because he would have to go out of the way to get to the other.

GLENN: Has Microsoft thought about when Gates needs to go from one side of the freeway to the other? There's two options here as I see it, two options. He is the richest man in the world. He can just get on a helicopter and fly to the next.

STU: How long, how many trips do you have to make to equal out the bridge?

GLENN: Here's the other option. I'm just saying, okay, I'm just pulling this one out of the sky, but I'm just trying to think of somebody like, I don't know, if I were running the company. I would have said in the first place I don't want to go down ancient history. But the first thing is richest guy in the world, one of the smartest guys in the world. Somebody should have said, "Hey, Bill, why don't we build on the same side of the freeway."

STU: Wow..

GLENN: I know, it's crazy, crazy.

STU: Who would have thought of that in advance, though. This is hindsight.

GLENN: Oh, I know, it's hindsight. There was a freeway running between it and they're like, let's build on that side.

STU: It appears to be, I would say eight lanes and a train.

GLENN: Yeah.

STU: In between. So it wasn't like a small one.

GLENN: So it would have been good to say, but maybe they were working on the Wonkavator, I'm not sure, something that shoots out of that glass thing or

STU: Or if they had heavy lifting tricks.

GLENN: I don't know. They're geniuses over there. I don't know why they decided, "Let's build the rest of the building on the other side of the freeway." I don't know.

The other thing that I would do now, that's ancient history, and I don't know what was going on, what they were thinking. The other thing that I would do is maybe we should move to a new location.

STU: But they have all these fancy buildings where they are coming up with fizzy drinks and everlasting Gobstoppers and all that.

GLENN: Sometimes you say we've outgrown this space, and it's really inconvenient because my other office is across eight lanes of freeway and a train. Bad planning. Oops, my bad. Maybe we should build a new building or maybe we should find an existing building and renovate it. Maybe we could move downtown, you know, where those what do they call those, oh, those new oh, yeah. High rises. That way there's no freeway in between floors. I don't know if they know that. That's crazy.

STU: Glenn, again I'm not a guy who runs a company.

GLENN: I know. You're just a thinker.

STU: I'm just a guy living my life.

GLENN: Let's let the common man in here. Let's let him air things out a little bit.

STU: But let's say, you are an employee at Microsoft campus.

GLENN: At Microsoft, that's the one on this side of the highway.

STU: Right.

GLENN: Then there's eight lanes of highway in between and a train.

STU: And you're at Microsoft campus B.

GLENN: Who is?

STU: You needed to meet with someone at Microsoft campus B.

GLENN: I don't know how to do that.

STU: How would you do that?

GLENN: I don't know.

STU: Someone at Microsoft could potentially invoke the power of the Internet.

GLENN: No, that's crazy.

STU: I'm saying

GLENN: What?

STU: I'm saying that they

GLENN: What, you are going to get on and you are going to do like MS DOS and stuff and you are going to be like, Y equals what are you going to do? It's not like you can have moving pictures, not like you can have a teleconference.

STU: No, what I'm saying is I think you could do that. You could see like a camera could take a picture of you.

GLENN: No. They need the bridge.

STU: What I'm saying is that Microsoft people should go to GotomyPC.com.

GLENN: The only option here, Stu, is for government money to build a bridge between these two campuses and you can see that bridge now on the it's beautiful, especially this time of year, beautiful. You should be very proud. They may put I was going to say you could pretend they are going to put your name on it because you're paying for it, but they will just put Microsoft up there.

The Survivors Club: The Secrets and Science that Could Save Your Life

GLENN: Shawn, I pray for you and God bless you. Thank you so much for calling. Things will get better. And listen, America, I just, I have a couple of friends who are losing their houses and they don't have anything. They don't have a job. They have nothing. And they -- you know, one of them just said to me a couple of days ago, crying to me, "Glenn, I did the right things. I did my job but then everything just changed overnight." And the best thing I could say to him is you're not alone. Anything I can do to help you, I will. You know, you need food, whatever, I will help you. Because I'm going to be in that situation, too, most likely. We all will. You know, if this thing spirals out of control -- and hopefully it doesn't. But if it does, we're going to need to depend on each other. We need to be the people that we promised we would be on September 12th. We're going to have to depend on each other. So reach out to each other. Let people know that they're not alone and that you do have compassion, and we've got to be the people that our grandparents were during the Great Depression and helping each other out.


Let me go to Ben Sherwood now. He is the author of the Survivors Club and Ben and I kind of e-mailed each other back and forth the other day. Excuse me, Ben. You have a new quiz out on the Internet that shows you what kind of an economic survivor you are.


SHERWOOD: That's right, Glenn. First of all, listening to Shawn I think that he identified exactly the survivor personality type that you and I have discussed before as the kind of person who bounces back from adversity is the person who refuses to get knocked down for good and they pick themselves up and they dust themselves off. He was laid off twice, but he goes out and he finds a part-time job. That's a real survivor personality and you know that he is going to make it. There are two facts that sort of jump out at me right now and the world, this recession, the great recession.


GLENN: I'm about to change that to the depression. I was at a dinner last night with leaders of two extraordinarily large corporations, gigantic corporations, and one of them said, you know, this depression -- and I said, excuse me, hang on. Did you just call it a depression? Both of the CEOs both looked at me like I was nuts and said, what are you calling it? And they are both liberals. They are both liberals. Anyway, go ahead.


SHERWOOD: So the two facts are first that one industry that is flourishing right now is the vegetable seed industry. Sales are up double digits and flower seed sales are down, and the reason is that in this recession people are realizing that you can't eat flowers and that to me is a sign of the kind of adaptability and hard thinking that people are having to do that is literally grow their own food. And there are actually seed companies, the world's largest seed company right now has a money package that's out there where they offer you $10 worth of seeds that can grow $685 worth of food for yourself. The second fact that I saw out there, again it goes to the survivor personality that we're going to talk about is that in recessions, going back to 1968, the enrollment and membership in evangelical churches grew 50% during each recession as people turned to faith and belief in God to get them through their ordeal. So this quiz that we put together that's available on your website, part of the Survivors Club philosophy is if you know what kind of survivor you are in an economic crisis, are you a fighter, are you a believer, are you a realist, you have a head start dealing with the challenges that we all face: Unemployment, foreclosure, bankruptcy. And so this quiz, in just a couple of minutes on your website, tells people what type of survivor they are and guide them to some resources on the Web that can help them through the different crises that they face.


GLENN: How does that help -- I can't remember what I was. What was I, Ben? I was a --


SHERWOOD: Connector. Connector.


GLENN: Connector. What does that mean and how would that help me?


SHERWOOD: Well, if you listen to what you were just saying earlier, sort of your message to your listeners this morning, we are not alone was sort of the central message that you put forward, that we need to reach out to other people, that you're there for your friend who's going through foreclosure and you'll help him in any way you can because you know someday you may face the same kind of challenge. That is the core connector philosophy. That's an idea that you're not one man against the world, that you belong to a community of people and that that community, your street, your neighborhood, your friends, your family, your church, that that community is your most powerful survival tool and so by knowing that you're a connector and digging deeper into the connector personality which I sort of lay out in great detail, you can begin to do things to pick yourself up, to pick your neighbor up and to get through this recession.


GLENN: How am I a connector if I am so against the global community? I am so against the government doing these things. I mean, that's what Obama -- I bet Obama's a connector. Isn't that the same --


SHERWOOD: You know, I -- that's sort of beyond my limited focus which is surviving and thriving against any challenge, whether it's economic or health. You know, I think what we study in the Survivors Club is what are the personality traits, what are the qualities that help some people bounce back and others don't, and --


GLENN: And is one stronger than another?


SHERWOOD: I don't think so because I think that believers, for instance, when I interviewed survivors around the world, people who were, as you know, attacked by mountain lions.


GLENN: Yeah.


SHERWOOD: Slammed by 20-ton trash trucks, left for dead after violent crimes, believers had the same kind of power to overcome adversity as fighters. Connectors had the same strengths as realists or thinkers. So no, I don't think any one particular type is better than any other.


GLENN: And how come I was a fighter when it comes to the other test and a connector when it comes to an economic?


SHERWOOD: Well, it's interesting because each situation calls upon a different set of traits that you have and as I've said to you, the deeper, richer profile, so we have a much deeper, longer test that comes along with the book that gives you the top three strengths that you have and the bottom three and it's sort of a longer, richer analysis. The quick glimpse on these quizzes gives you the top line of, for instance, what you're like in a survival challenge or what you're like in an economic challenge. So what we find in your test is that you're somebody who's going to rally your friends, be there for your friends, help your friends in the event of an economic challenge, whereas in a survival challenge, say outdoors or in a plane crash, you're more of a fighter type. You're a person who is going to be on a mission to lead people through the fire to solve your problem.


GLENN: Okay. The quiz is up at GlennBeck.com, and I want to come back to you just a little bit and talk about economic survival and what people need to survive. Ben Sherwood is on the phone. Ben Sherwood is the author of the Survivors Club. He went and he interviewed survivors of almost everything, from being eaten by a mountain lion to economic collapse and found out what they all have in common and it's fascinating stuff. If I'm not mistaken, one of the main points that you -- Stephen Colbert just ridiculed me last night for almost a half hour on our war room episode of looking at scary scenarios. And, you know, Ben, you are the guy that really showed me the importance of "Name the monster in the dark." Just look at the unthinkable and then you're not afraid of it anymore.


SHERWOOD: The Air Force has a phrase for that: Hug the monster. Name the monster in dark, hug the monster. When an Air Force, when an aviator is shot down in enemy territory, they train their pilots not to freeze and panic because you're behind enemy lines, all you've got is a pistol and a survival kit. They teach those aviators through incredibly rigorous training that I actually went through some of it in the woods of Spokane, Washington. They teach those aviators to go right up to that fear, grab a hold of it and wrestle with it because the more you are exposed to that fear, the more you embrace it, that fear stops terrifying and it actually becomes the main motivator to do something, to take action.


GLENN: It's the -- I mean, I tell you a lot of life answers could be found in "Star Wars." It's why Luke went into the cave and saw Darth Vader. It was with Yoda, right? I mean, it's the same thing. Face your fear.


SHERWOOD: Exactly, face your fear. The other thing they teach is this phrase that I love -- the Air Force is full of memorable phrases. They say eat an elephant one bite at a time.


GLENN: Right.


SHERWOOD: That means if you try to devour an entire elephant, you are going to get sick or you are going to give up.


GLENN: You wouldn't even know where to start.


SHERWOOD: Exactly. If you break your economic challenge into little parts, if you divide it up into small achievable tasks, you begin to develop some momentum and suddenly you're no longer sitting on your couch unable to open your 401(k) sheet or unable to deal with the fact that your company, your factory just closed and suddenly you're getting up in the morning, you're on the Internet, you're going to the library looking for resources. As some job counselors in Ohio have counseled, you are going to construction sites to see where the building is still taking place and asking what businesses are coming. Maybe you are going to a church pew and leaving behind a little sheet of paper that says what your qualifications are because as one expert in Ohio told the Wall Street Journal, churchgoers are generous and giving people and if they see you are showing initiative and you are trying to do something by leaving behind in church pews a church card that says you are available to do work, generous people may be inclined to help you and give you a lift and a hand and a job. So it's that attitude of just doing little things, suddenly you're on your way.

VOICE: The Glenn Beck Program presents Spotlight on Science, a series dedicated to President Obama's passion for everything science.


GLENN: Japanese scientists have a dramatic break with UN and Western climate hypothesis in a new report from the Japanese energy commission. One of the five contributors compared computer climate modeling to ancient astrology. Now they are disagreeing with astrology, too. Astrology is settled. Hello. Three out of the five leading scientists contend that recent climate change is driven by natural cycles, not human industrial activity as political activists argue. Scientists. I don't think so. I mean, what are their qualifications? Were they vice president? I doubt it, no, never a vice president of the United States. Who are these people? Kanya Kusano, he is the program director and group leader for the Earth simulator at the Japan Agency For Marine-Earth Science and Technology, or JAMSTEC, which is one of my favorite -- I love. This is so great. Anyway, he has a doctorate of science from the University of Hiroshima which I assume is, well, at least probably has some relatively new research facilities along with all the other facilities and parking lots and everything else. But his expertise is in simulation science, plasma physics, space physics, astrosciences, fusion science, magneto-hydrodynamics which isn't like the Fantastic Four, isn't that -- oh, it's Japan, that's right. And multiscale modeling. I personally, I don't want to get all snooty here and scientific here but my personal favorite from him is probably the three-dimensional simulation study of flux rope dynamics in the solar corona. It was published in the astrophysical journal, but you could convince me. I mean, you could make a good argument that the measurement of magnetic helicity injection and free energy loading into the solar corona still holds up as an entertaining read. I mean, sometimes I still read that and go, that is so great. Anyway, the other guy is the head of the International Arctic Research Center in Alaska. He uses historical data to challenge the claim that the very recent temperatures represent an anomaly. Before anyone noticed this hypothesis has been substituted for truth, the opinion that great disaster will really happen must be broken. Akasofu, the other scientist, as you probably know being a scientific-minded person because it's the Obama administration. We're all putting science right where she belongs, he was named as the world's most cited scientist on space physics, but I mean, what do the physics of a place where that giant magic ball of fire lives, I mean, what does that have to do with warming here on Earth? I mean, it's crazy. Sure, don't get me wrong, I loved his paper on polar and magnetospheric sub storms. I still bring his paper on dynamics and the magnetosphere on vacation just to read at the beach. Come on, these guys aren't real scientists. Real science is practiced by those of us lucky enough to narrowly lose a presidential election, you know, when you blow your own home state. That's where real science is. Let's put science back in her rightful place, you know, right back within Al Gore's giant cranium.

1,000-plus-page spending bill includes hundreds of pages of earmarks - pet spending projects inserted by lawmakers, ranging from:

$185,000 for coral reef research and preservation in Maui County, Hawaii

$55,000 in meteorological equipment for Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Calif.

$9.9 million for science enhancement at historically black colleges in South Carolina.

In addition to the basic operations of government, the new budget includes 775 pages of earmarks, funding programs that include local museums, colleges and infrastructure projects.

Among the earmarked projects in the bill are $764,000 for the Lake George Watershed Protection Initiative in New York, requested by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, New York
Democrat;

$9.9 million for South Carolina's historically black colleges and universities, requested by House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn, South Carolina Democrat;

$1.1 million requested by Senate Republican Conference Chairman Lamar Alexander and Sen. Bob Corker, both of Tennessee, for water treatment plant improvements in Tennessee's Unicoi County, as well as $300,000 for a sewer extension project in another county.

Stimulus Package Details. American Dream?

Where are you going to spend your rebate check?

Facts regarding the controversial economic stimulus package as found on the IRS Internet site at www.irs.gov are summarized here.

Stimulus checks begin being mailed in May, 2008.

To qualify, you must file your 2007 tax return.

Checks will be available via direct deposit if that is the option provided on your 2007 income tax return.

Eligibility.

"In most cases, the payment will equal the amount of tax liability on the return with a maximum amount of $600 for individuals ($1,200 for taxpayers who file a joint return) and a minimum of $300 for individuals ($600 for taxpayers who file a joint return).

...Low-income workers who have earned income above $3,000 but do not have a regular filing requirement must file a 2007 tax return to receive the minimum stimulus payment. Similarly, Social Security recipients, certain Railroad retirees, and those who receive the veterans’ benefits mentioned above must file a 2007 return in order to notify the IRS of their qualifying income."

"Parents and anyone else eligible for a stimulus payment will also receive an additional $300 for each qualifying child. To qualify, a child must be eligible under the Child Tax Credit and have a valid Social Security number."

Note: Limited to those with Social Security Numbers only! Please read all exclusions.

Once U.S. citizens receive the package rebate checks, instead of paying off debt, they are reportedly going to turn around and spend most of it at places like Wal-Mart.

What is wrong with shopping at Wal-Mart, you ask? For some, it remains their only option. This is understood.

However, the money spent at Wal-Mart will most likely go straight to China.

Instead of thinking of what will sound good coming out of their mouths, they may want to start thinking about what will actually function on paper going through the U.S. Congress to make changes once they are in office.

Stimulus for U.S. or for China?

Watching the news today, I had to almost laugh at the decision that our government is making as a "stimulus" for the economy. Why laugh? Because if I didn't laugh, I'd probably scream.

There is already controversy surrounding the package. Once U.S. citizens receive the package rebate checks, they are reportedly going to turn around and spend most of it at places like Walmart. What is wrong with that, you ask? Because the money spent at Walmart will most likely go straight to China.

Having Babies Pollutes The Planet?

So, here's an issue for you.

Have you ever heard anyone say that childbearing is selfish?

..."oh, you're having kids? You are so selfish!"

..."Those childbearing types...they are so selfish!"

Wouldn't that sound ridiculous and uneducated for someone to talk like that?

Well, here's a story about some who say its 'selfish' to have children because you're ruining the Earth by doing so.

As put on a recap from the Glenn Beck program from CNN, "Spoken like a childless person -- obviously they wouldn't know just how selfless having a child is. Maybe if their Friday night excitement consisted of cleaning the snot bubbles out of their kids noses and trying to get a 2 year old to eat green beans they would better understand the definition of 'selfless'."

My Commentary: Shudder with horror?

My Commentary: I agree that if she would "shudder with horror" at the thought of cradling her own baby that, yes, sterilization for her is doing something positive for the rest of us...the world.

...working with fellow environmentalists...
Toni was happy, at last, with fellow environmentalists who shared her philosophy. But when she was 25, disaster struck.

"I discovered that despite taking the Pill, I'd accidentally fallen pregnant by my boyfriend.

"I was horrified. I knew straight away there was no option of having the baby.

"I went to my doctor about having a termination..."

My Commentary: Fallen pregnant?

...She had the termination...later had appointment for sterilization...
"A week before my sterilisation, I went to an animal rights demonstration and met Ed.

"I liked him immediately, and I told him what I was doing straight away - because if he wanted children then he needed to know I wasn't the woman for him," she says.

"But Ed was relieved when I told him how I felt and said he didn't want children for the same reasons."

My Commentary: How many of these "environmentalists" are out there?

On the morning of surgery, Ed gave Toni a card saying "Congratulations".

Toni says: "After the operation, which is irreversible, I didn't feel emotional - just relieved.

"I've never doubted that I made the right decision. Ed and I married in September 2002, and have a much nicer lifestyle as a result of not having children. "

My Commentary: Congratulations? They were definitely meant for each other. Didn't feel emotional, just relieved? Not human! Additionally, of course their lifestyle is "richer" in the monetary sense of the word. They have no idea what they are missing in the sense of those wonderful moments with children who have unconditional love, missing you when you are gone, loving you when you are around, and endless other selfless and selfish benefits of having children. Their loss, but evidently much better for everyone else.

...Another case (if you can believe it--in the same article)...
"Most young girls dream of marriage and babies. But Sarah dreamed of helping the environment - and as she agonised over the perils of climate change, the loss of animal species and destruction of wilderness, she came to the extraordinary decision never to have a child.

My Commentary: A baby would pollute the planet? Do they think that humans were here by accident?

"I'd never dream of preaching to others about having a family. It's a very personal choice. What I do like to do is make people aware of the facts."

My Commentary: What facts? They are preaching. Again...Having a baby would pollute the planet?

...her husband chimes in saying...
"In short, we do everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint. But all this would be undone if we had a child.

"That's why I had a vasectomy. It would be morally wrong for me to add to climate change and the destruction of Earth. "

My Commentary: Doing all they can do to reduce their carbon footprint would all be undone if they had a child? What a way to make their decision sound so unselfish...also, that it would be morally wrong to add to the destruction of the earth. Hmm, do these people sound very stable to you in the first place? Do they sound like they are not already adding to the destruction, at least to the societal structure of the earth? Not so stable, in my opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That is what makes this world go around. It's always interesting to hear what people think and do outside of my reality. This one...is really outside of my reality...thankfully.

Media Doesn't Like Good News

Today I decided it was a good idea to talk about some good news. Of course, this good news may not be something that you have heard about from mainstream media. They especially don't want to tell you about actual progress that has been made in Iraq since June's troop surge.

Here are some of the facts...

• Iraqi civillian deaths are down by over 50%
• 101 U.S. Troops were killed in June and only 34 in October. 1/3 of those deaths were non-combat related deaths
• Deaths from I.E.D.'s are down 78% since June

I may be wrong, but don't think that these have been pointed out by mainstream media and do show that the troop surge has had a positive impact in Iraq. As to the availability of troops to spread for other need...including this ongoing war, as well as upcoming issues...well that is yet to be determined and I don't have expert opinion to represent facts on that matter at the moment. I will try to find answers for that matter to address it at a later, more appropriate date. If any of you have a source for those facts, please feel free to share.
