Fear Mongering & Other Factors Leading To Mass Hate Around The Globe.

In a recent discussion with family members, a topic was brought up that seemed to cause contention because of the varying life experience of those involved and recent political issues around the globe. The topic, whether or not we should move on with replacing positive in the wake of negative events throughout history, or whether we should celebrate anniversaries with gory details of death, destruction and hatred.

I didn't really think I was out of my depth by stating that my opinion is that we should start to move forward and replace the negative with positive, however, I had fierce opposition to my opinion.  Being the peace maker that I am, I left it alone but decided to gather my thoughts and present them here so that I could sort them out to see if they still made sense to me.

The thing that struck me in the family conversation was strong opinion about the 95 year old man who is being tried regarding his war crimes from the WWII era.  While I feel that, if he did commit the crime, the laws of the land are the laws of the land.  However, at 95 years old and due to the age of the crimes (along with the fact that he would have been taking orders), I would take a historian's point of view while approaching this one so that the facts could be collected for accuracy.  I would also take the approach of someone who could provide his extended family with relief in whatever guilt that he has felt from those crimes being put to use in works that would benefit those who he committed the crimes against.  Now, if these were especially heinous crimes, his comfort of care and living would be affected.

While this case is big news, the thing that makes the news is the hate, the fear, the despair, the things that were done against a certain people.

I know these things will not be forgotten by anyone who has had a history lesson, so why is it that the gory details, hatred, fear and despair are being reused over and over, thus victimizing the same group of people?  It is in my opinion that this is done by the political masters with political theater in mind. This molds the emotions, intellect and reality of all generations to fit a political agenda that keeps the masses in check, readily primed for the next political move.

Let's look at a more recent example.  9/11 was a tragic event that was shock and awe to everyone who lived during that time. Because media has been so "diligent" in force feeding us the gory details, we really did see the events happening in real time (Be-that-as-it-may, on a side note, the real time constant of the media also showed faults to the event timeline and to details that to-this-day cannot be proven absolutely true).

Since 9/11, events that have caused war and rumors of war have been blamed on the fact that 'they did that to us on 9/11'.  Using words like terror, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, nuclear power, etc, and using media coverage of foreign events to help unravel these stormy times even further, the public has learned fear of the "foreign".  Foreign religion. Foreign skin color. Foreign customs and cultures.

Another example of fear mongering on a different front to keep the masses in line are the stories of Ebola, pandemics, SARRS, and other illnesses that have posed a real anxiety for people with the news of Zika and other diseases that take less lives and cause less issues that influenza.  The people become afraid and are willing to ingest any vaccine, regardless of what it covers, without question. They become zombies, being told not to travel to certain places, eat or breathe certain things. The people are willing to be sprayed with pesticides in compressed airplane cabins without question. The people are afraid so they draw closer to media by staying home and becoming uninvolved in life in general, flipping on the TV and other media options and getting their dose of "reality" there instead.  It's "safe" and "comfortable".

This IS the Zombie Apocalypse. We are afraid of anything we are told to be afraid of, believe what those in 'authority' tell us, and every time an anniversary of any of the tragic events in life history comes up, we are put back into the CONDITIONED state of fear, the conditioned state of despair, the conditioned state of anger and the conditioned mood of hatred.

When the next moment comes up for a piece on the chess board to be moved, believe me, those taking their turn have worked on the move for long enough that the outcome is as predictable as the people they use as the chess pieces.

Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project's "Trinity" test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan's nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea's two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear).

Each nation gets a blip and a flashing dot on the map whenever they detonate a nuclear weapon, with a running tally kept on the top and bottom bars of the screen. Hashimoto, who began the project in 2003, says that he created it with the goal of showing"the fear and folly of nuclear weapons." It starts really slow — if you want to see real action, skip ahead to 1962 or so — but the buildup becomes overwhelming.

Military interest in space became intense during and after World War II
because of the introduction of rocket science, the companion to nuclear
technology. The early versions include the buzz bomb and guided missiles.
They were thought of as potential carriers of both nuclear and conventional
bombs.

Rocket technology and nuclear weapon technology developed simultaneously
between 1945 and 1963. During this time of intensive atmospheric nuclear
testing, explosions at various levels above and below the surface of the
earth were tried. Some of the now familiar descriptions of the earth’s
protective atmosphere, such as the existence of the Van Allen belts, were
based on information gained through stratospheric and ionospheric
experimentation.

The earth’s atmosphere consists of the troposphere, from sea level to about
16 km above the earth’s surface; the stratosphere (which contains the ozone
level) which extends from about the 16 to 48 km above the earth; and the
ionosphere which extends from 48 km to over 50,000 km above the surface of
the earth.

The earth’s protective atmosphere or “skin” extends beyond 3,200 km above
sea level to the large magnetic fields, called the Van Allen Belts, which
can capture the charged particles sprayed through the cosmos by the solar
and galactic winds. These belts were discovered in 1958 during the first
weeks of the operation of America’s first satellite, Explorer I. They
appear to contain charged particles trapped in the earth’s gravity and
magnetic fields. Primary galactic cosmic rays enter the solar system from
interstellar space, and are made up of protons with energies above 100 MeV,
extending up to astronomically high energies. They make up about 10% of the
high energy rays. Solar rays are generally of lower energy, below 20 MeV
(which is still high energy in earth terms). These high energy particles
are affected by the earth’s magnetic field and by geomagnetic latitude
(distance above or below the geomagnetic equator). The flux density of low
energy protons at the top of the atmosphere is normally greater at the
poles than at the equator. The density also varies with solar activity, a
minimum when solar flares are at a maximum.

The Van Allen belts capture charged particles (protons, electrons and alpha
particles) and these spiral along the magnetic force lines toward the polar
regions where the force lines converge. They are reflected back and forth
between the magnetic force lines near the poles. The lower Van Allen Belt
is about 7700 km above the earth’s surface, and the outer Van Allen Belt is
about 51,500 km above the surface. According to the Encyclopaedia
Britannica, the Van Allen belts are most intense along the equator, and
effectively absent over the poles. They dip to 400 km over the South
Atlantic Ocean, and are about 1,000 km high over the Central Pacific Ocean.
In the lower Van Allen Belt, the proton intensity is about 20,000 particles
with energy above 30 MeV per second per square centimetre. Electrons reach
a maximum energy of 1 MeV, and their intensity has a maximum of 100 million
per second per square centimetre. In the outer Belt, proton energy averages
only 1 MeV. For comparison, most charged particles discharged in a nuclear
explosion are range between 0.3 and 3 MeV, while diagnostic medical X-ray
has peak voltage around 0.5 MeV.

NSA whistleblower Thomas Drake might face increased freedom of speech restrictions under Senate proposals to curb "leaks."

The Senate Intelligence Committee passed an intelligence authorization bill yesterday. The legislation, according to committee chairwoman Senator Dianne Feinstein, would fund measures to “counter terrorist threats, prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, enhance counterintelligence, conduct covert actions and collect and analyze intelligence around the globe.” All of which is expected from the committee serving under the national security state of America. In addition to all that, however, are proposals specifically aimed at “preventing unauthorized disclosures of classified information.”

The proposals come as a response to “leaks” on cyber warfare against Iran, Obama’s “kill list” and a CIA underwear bomb plot sting operation in Yemen. They are the result of a bipartisan offensive against “leaks” that Sen. Feinstein has said comes from the White House.

One of the proposals is a restriction on the “number of intelligence community employees authorized to communicate with the media” and a “prohibition on current and former intelligence officials entering into certain contracts with media organizations.” What this would mean exactly is not defined in the talking points put forward by Feinstein.

Would the “number of intelligence community employees” be limited by establishing guidelines that prohibited lower level employees from talking with news organizations? Would it cut back on the number of individuals, who could speak in an official capacity about intelligence operations?

What exactly does the intelligence committee mean by “contract”? Is getting an intelligence official’s approval to put comments on the record a “contract”? Then there’s the part about this applying to “former intelligence officials” as well as “current” officials. Would this put limits on what people like NSA whistleblower Thomas Drake would be able to say publicly because they might share information that would reveal details on matters “sensitive” to national security? 


[Drake was one of six individuals President Barack Obama's administration has prosecuted under the Espionage Act. The Justice Department's case collapsed in June 2011 and the government was forced to settle for a deal where Drake pled guilty to a misdemeanor but served no jail time.]

This is not far-fetched. Drake attended a Cato Institute event today on “The FISA Amendments Act (FAA) and Mass Spying Without Accountability.” Senator Ron Wyden, who has been bold in his opposition to how the government is abusing the spying powers granted to it by FAA, was asked a question by Drake. Drake wanted to know if it was possible to provide collective security and not go to the dark side and violate Americans civil liberties. He mentioned that he was the executive manager of ThinThread, a program that would have made it possible for the government to respect the Constitution while at the same time protecting liberty. 


Wyden gave Drake an incredibly timid response saying he could not respond or go into specific details about any technology being used by the government. He, instead, generally declared that he believed protecting the country in a dangerous time and protecting people’s civil liberties is not “mutually exclusive.”

How might Wyden answer this question if the Senate intelligence committee’s proposals were passed by Congress? And would Drake be putting himself in a position where government could punish him for asking questions or making comments at public events if these proposals were signed into law? Feinstein told CNN‘s Wolf Blitzer when she first was expressing outrage at the “leaks,” ”[It's a] problem that we have people consulting. They live their life with classified information. They then get a consultancy with your show or your station or some other station and they’re talking, inadvertently, I think, about information that should not be talked about.” Given this earlier statement from Feinstein, it seems reasonable to presume the measure is intended to silence former intelligence employees.

In addition to these provisions that explicitly mention the media, the Senate proposals would require the executive branch to notify Congress when it made “authorized disclosures of intelligence information to the public.” Why would this be necessary? It might be one way to ensure that Congress be fully briefed on specific matters before disclosures occur. Quite often it seems Congress members are blindsided by administrations that do not fill in people on what they are doing on national security until a news story is about to be released that will generate interest in a national security matter and put these officials in a position where they have to answer questions.

The new measures call for the “Director of National Intelligence (DNI) to improve the process for conducting administrative leaks investigations, including a requirement to proactively identify leaks and take administrative action when necessary.” The DNI has already proactively moved to institute anti-leaks measures. Intelligence employees will now be required to answer a question on whether they have leaked “restricted information” to journalists or the news media when they take a polygraph test that all employees have to take every seven years. They will also be subjected to an environment that further chills freedom of speech, as they could be issued “letters of reprimand” if they are “suspected” of being involved in a “leak.”

Weapons of Mass Destruction. Extreme Risk. Should we be surprised?

According to the report by the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism, the United States is at a high risk of a major terror attack before 2013 in which the terrorists will utilize WMD.

"The Commission believes that unless the world community acts decisively and with great urgency, it is more likely than not that a weapon of mass destruction will be used in a terrorist attack somewhere in the world by the end of 2013."

Should we really be surprised?

"The intent of this report is neither to frighten nor to reassure the American
people about the current state of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.
It is to underscore that the U.S. government has yet to fully adapt to these circumstances, and to convey the sobering reality that the risks are growing faster than our multilayered defenses.

Our margin of safety is shrinking, not growing." (bold and italics added)

Their findings included research in the "crossroads of terrorism and proliferation in the poorly governed parts of Pakistan". Thus, should there be any surprise if findings (as already speculated) in the Mumbai, India incident conclude that Pakistan is, in fact, behind those horrific terrorist attacks? Even if Pakistan is presently denying their participation?

"During the course of our fieldwork for this report, the members of the Commission had a near miss—and it served as a reminder of the urgency of our mission and message.

Asked by Congress to recommend ways of preventing weapons of mass destruction proliferation and terrorism, we were on our way to a place where these two concerns intersect—Pakistan. On September 20, 2008, we were in Kuwait City awaiting our connecting flight to Islamabad, where we would be staying at the Marriott Hotel. Suddenly our cell phones began buzzing with breaking news: the Islamabad Marriott had just been devastated by a bomb.

Minutes later, every television set in the airport was showing live footage of our destination. The Marriott was ablaze, a line of fire running its length. The hotel front was a mass of twisted iron and broken concrete. What once had been the lobby was now a huge black crater. More than fifty people lost their lives that day at the Islamabad Marriott, a gathering place for prominent visitors and influential locals.
Within hours, the attack came to be known as Pakistan’s 9/11—a frightening reminder that we live in an age of global terrorism."

It was an unfortunate incident. However, it could have been a statement from any number of terrorist factions that holdout within the Pakistani borders, and are allowed to do so. This is called harboring terrorists and Pakistan and its government are duly aware they are participating in such acts.

A statement in the Preface of the report that I call a "duh" statement reads as follows.

"...weapons will be poorly secured and thus may be stolen by terrorists or by others who intend to sell them."

In other words, "duh".

Those who want to harm will find ways to do harm. Regardless of regulations on any weapon, if someone wants it bad enough, they will find ways to get the weapon. Some may pay a high dollar amount to get the desired weapon. Some may steal the desired weapon. Some may create their own desired weapon. Throughout the ages, those who desired to do harm were able to find ways to do so. Unfortunately, technology has created forms of weapons that can create destruction on such a massive scale that it may be unfathomable for everyday citizens to envision that kind of mass terrorism. However, it is time to open our eyes to the facts that stare squarely at us. There are people who desire to do harm and they will eventually find a way to create the turmoil, fear and death they desire.

"We want to inform our fellow citizens, and thereby empower them to act."

"The Commission further believes that terrorists are more likely to be able to obtain and use a biological weapon than a nuclear weapon." Something that was not mentioned in the mainstream media regarding this detail is that someone could easily utilize a biological weapon in our nation's water supply. Have you ever been enticed or encouraged to gather an emergency supply of water? Perhaps this should be your wake-up call. Should we have an issue with our water supply, the only way to survive is to have a reserve that cannot be tainted by terrorists. This can only happen within our own homes, neighborhoods and cities. It is not something to be fearful of, but to be prepared for.

Another "duh" statement in the Executive Summary of the report states, “The risk of a
nuclear weapon being used today is growing, not receding.” Again, "duh". The technology has been around for a long time now and there are many who desire power, as well as those who desire to defend themselves. It was only a matter of time before this was going to be an issue. It has been an issue long before these public statements. There were probably no public statements prior to now because they were afraid of a mass panic.

"...we concluded early in our deliberations that this report should focus solely on the two types of WMD categories that have the greatest potential to kill in the most massive numbers: biological and nuclear weapons."

Since the 9/11 attacks, the 9/11 Commission reported that there is a shortage in human intelligence within the United States intelligence agencies. This creates only the ability to react to situations instead of always preventing them. Although our intelligence agencies do a great job at identifying many of the threats to our American soil prior to attack so that the attacks can be thwarted, we are unable to fully utilize the agencies to prevent attacks. This poses a great risk to our nation and its people. "Though U.S. policy and strategy have made progress, they have not kept pace with the growing risks." In other words, we need to bulk up the forces in our human intelligence. Sun Tzu said, “Knowledge of the enemy’s dispositions can only be obtained from other men…Hence it is only the enlightened and wise general who will use the highest intelligence of the army...Spies are the most important asset.”, also stating the importance of human intelligence.

The best defense against the terrorist threats we now face is awareness. Not just awareness within the secret halls of governing agencies, but the awareness of the whole nation so that we can work together as a United States of America to combat this enemy.
