"It's time for us to come together and to carry our message across this country, we're restoring those principles that made America the great nation that it is .... We're going to keep America strong, and worthy of the great sacrifice of America's veterans and those young men and women who put their lives on the line for us even today."

From the website:
The abortion issue has been a controversial topic for decades that reaches to the core of every person in America. Often voters will even base their entire choice on this one topic alone, disregarding everything else the politician has to offer in the vain hope that their "chosen one" will be able to effect change on this issue.
We all like to think that our opinions matter, but so often there is no effective outlet for our beliefs to change lives. While most people have a definite opinion about abortion and take a stance as being either "Pro-Life" or "Pro-choice", very few have an opportunity to do more than voice their concern to their elected representative. The concerns that we voice to those around us don't seem to change the status-quo. Unless you are put into the position of having to make this decision in a setting that actually makes a difference, the debate does not affect anything.
Voting is such an integral part of the American identity. We vote on everything. We vote on things ranging from the best singer on American Idol to who the next leader of the free world will be. Wouldn't it be nice to voice your opinion and have it actually make a difference in the real world? Why not vote on whether to continue or abort an actual pregnancy? Your vote can help a real couple to make a decision on this issue.
We would like to keep you informed on our pregnancy as if it was your own; posting our thoughts and feelings as we struggle to make this decision. We would like you to see what we see and feel what we feel. We invite you take this journey with us as we contemplate our own options and encourage you to utilize this site to vote and voice your opinion in a way that will have a real consequence… in a way that truly matters. Here, your vote will not go unheard."

Great Expectations
by Natasha Call

Birth. Front seat on the roller coaster of life
Children’s innocence destroyed prematurely
Waking hours full of separation and strife
Parents away to make their existence pearly

Adult responsibilities no later than age three
Days filled with strangers tying their laces
No. For children the tremulous ride isn’t free
Expecting all the more of their parents’ faces

What do children unfortunately learn to expect?
A bumpy ride, no explanation and gifts to make up
What should children have confidence to expect?
Together time. Parents never give their seat up

Joy. A ride parents and children greatly appreciate
Enhancing positive success of the next generation
The miracle of creation. Parents it isn’t too late
Together you’re creating the outcome of a nation

Children...Priceless Treasures, Naughty & Nice

This week's theme...Being Thankful

Keeping with my theme this week, I've decided to focus on the next generation...our children.

"Always be nice to your children because they are the ones who will choose your rest home."
-Phyllis Diller

As I know from experience, children are priceless treasures, naughty and nice. I wouldn't feel that life was living without my kids. Sure, sometimes I desire my alone time, like right now while I am blogging, trying to keep a thought, they are running around playing not-so-quiet "spy games" (as they are calling them tonight). I just hope that they get their excess energy let out so that they sleep well and wake up as the angels they usually are (because mine, like all of your children are usually angels).

"Children are the only form of immortality that we can be sure of."
-Peter Ustinov (1921 - 2004)

Age does wonders for relaxing my nerves (not that 37 is old by any stretch). I find that, since my husband and I started having children later, and since my kids are both in elementary school (I miss them during the day...that is the truth, not sarcasm), that I love having them run around the house with their friends, love having conversations with them, love listening to what they feel about the future, etc. I appreciate my kids a great deal.

"Children begin by loving their parents; as they grow older they judge them; sometimes they forgive them."
-Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Picture of Dorian Gray, 1891

I wonder if other parents worry like I do, whether I am doing a good job, teaching my kids the right things, showing a good example, etc. Will my kids look back at me and be happy that I was a good parent? I know I only have control over my own actions. As a parent I know that it is my responsibility to nurture my children into adults that can contribute something meaningful to society and, at the same time, have self-satisfying lives. Everyday is a new beginning for me to nurture and re-nurture my children and, hopefully, they will forgive me for my mistakes.

I am thankful for my children.

There are so many reasons to be thankful. Even if it weren't the week we celebrate Thanksgiving, I would be counting my blessings. Shouldn't every day be a day we are thankful for? Shouldn't we all treasure our children...naughty and nice?
