Fear Mongering & Other Factors Leading To Mass Hate Around The Globe.

In a recent discussion with family members, a topic was brought up that seemed to cause contention because of the varying life experience of those involved and recent political issues around the globe. The topic, whether or not we should move on with replacing positive in the wake of negative events throughout history, or whether we should celebrate anniversaries with gory details of death, destruction and hatred.

I didn't really think I was out of my depth by stating that my opinion is that we should start to move forward and replace the negative with positive, however, I had fierce opposition to my opinion.  Being the peace maker that I am, I left it alone but decided to gather my thoughts and present them here so that I could sort them out to see if they still made sense to me.

The thing that struck me in the family conversation was strong opinion about the 95 year old man who is being tried regarding his war crimes from the WWII era.  While I feel that, if he did commit the crime, the laws of the land are the laws of the land.  However, at 95 years old and due to the age of the crimes (along with the fact that he would have been taking orders), I would take a historian's point of view while approaching this one so that the facts could be collected for accuracy.  I would also take the approach of someone who could provide his extended family with relief in whatever guilt that he has felt from those crimes being put to use in works that would benefit those who he committed the crimes against.  Now, if these were especially heinous crimes, his comfort of care and living would be affected.

While this case is big news, the thing that makes the news is the hate, the fear, the despair, the things that were done against a certain people.

I know these things will not be forgotten by anyone who has had a history lesson, so why is it that the gory details, hatred, fear and despair are being reused over and over, thus victimizing the same group of people?  It is in my opinion that this is done by the political masters with political theater in mind. This molds the emotions, intellect and reality of all generations to fit a political agenda that keeps the masses in check, readily primed for the next political move.

Let's look at a more recent example.  9/11 was a tragic event that was shock and awe to everyone who lived during that time. Because media has been so "diligent" in force feeding us the gory details, we really did see the events happening in real time (Be-that-as-it-may, on a side note, the real time constant of the media also showed faults to the event timeline and to details that to-this-day cannot be proven absolutely true).

Since 9/11, events that have caused war and rumors of war have been blamed on the fact that 'they did that to us on 9/11'.  Using words like terror, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, nuclear power, etc, and using media coverage of foreign events to help unravel these stormy times even further, the public has learned fear of the "foreign".  Foreign religion. Foreign skin color. Foreign customs and cultures.

Image result for fear
Using words like terror, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, nuclear power, etc, and using media coverage of foreign events to help unravel these stormy times even further, the public has learned fear of the "foreign".  Foreign religion. Foreign skin color. Foreign customs and cultures.
Another example of fear mongering on a different front to keep the masses in line are the stories of Ebola, pandemics, SARRS, and other illnesses that have posed a real anxiety for people with the news of Zika and other diseases that take less lives and cause less issues that influenza.  The people become afraid and are willing to ingest any vaccine, regardless of what it covers, without question. They become zombies, being told not to travel to certain places, eat or breathe certain things. The people are willing to be sprayed with pesticides in compressed airplane cabins without question. The people are afraid so they draw closer to media by staying home and becoming uninvolved in life in general, flipping on the TV and other media options and getting their dose of "reality" there instead.  It's "safe" and "comfortable".

This IS the Zombie Apocalypse. We are afraid of anything we are told to be afraid of, believe what those in 'authority' tell us, and every time an anniversary of any of the tragic events in life history comes up, we are put back into the CONDITIONED state of fear, the conditioned state of despair, the conditioned state of anger and the conditioned mood of hatred.

When the next moment comes up for a piece on the chess board to be moved, believe me, those taking their turn have worked on the move for long enough that the outcome is as predictable as the people they use as the chess pieces.

Conditioning. Conditioning. Conditioning.

U.S. Finally Admits It Needs To Bolster Missile Defense

US Officials: North Korea poses serious threat
By Lara Jakes and Donna Cassata, Associated Press
March 12th, 2013 @ 11:07am

WASHINGTON (AP) - An unpredictable North Korea, with its nuclear weapons and missile programs, stands as a serious threat to the United States and East Asia nations, the director of National Intelligence warned Tuesday in a sober assessment of worldwide threats.
Testifying before a Senate panel, James R. Clapper delivered the U.S. intelligence community's overview of global threats posed by terrorism, cyber attacks, weapons of mass destruction, the months-long civil war in Syria and the unsettled situation in post-Arab Spring nations.
The outlook on North Korea comes as the communist regime announced that it was "completely scrapping" the 1953 armistice that ended the Korean War and has maintained peace on the peninsula for more than half a century. The Obama administration on Monday slapped new sanctions against North Korea's primary exchange bank and several senior government officials as it expressed concern about the North's "bellicose rhetoric."
"The Intelligence community has long assessed that, in Pyongyang's view, its nuclear capabilities are intended for deterrence, international prestige and coercive diplomacy. We do not know Pyongyang's nuclear doctrine or employment concepts," Clapper told the Senate Intelligence Committee. "Although we assess with low confidence that the North would only attempt to use nuclear weapons against U.S. forces or allies to preserve the Kim regime, we do not know what would constitute, from the North's perspective, crossing that threshold."
North Korea, led by its young leader Kim Jong Un, has defied the international community in the last three months, testing an intercontinental ballistic missile and a third nuclear bomb.
Pressed on North Korea, Clapper said he was "very concerned about the actions of the new young leader." He described the talk emanating from Pyongyang as "very belligerent."

Israeli tourists in Sinai should return to Israel immediately because terrorists are planning to abduct Israelis from the peninsula, the government's Counter-Terrorism Bureau warned on Thursday.
The agency said it issued the warning because it has received new intelligence indicating that Gaza-based Palestinian terror groups and organizations linked to Al-Qaida in Sinai are planning imminent attacks on Israeli tourists there. The terrorists' primary goal is to kidnap Israelis, the agency added.
While it has issued similar warnings several times in the past, many Israelis ignore them, pressing forward with plans to enjoy a relatively cheap beach vacation.
"The Counter-Terrorism Bureau once again urges all Israelis in Sinai to leave the region immediately and return to Israel," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement on Thursday.
"The Counterterrorism Bureau asks the families of Israelis in Sinai to make contact with them and inform them of this warning. In addition, the bureau strongly recommends that all those planning to go to Sinai refrain from doing so."
The agency has had a travel advisory in place for Sinai for several years now, but the security situation there deteriorated drastically after last year's Egyptian revolution. Over the past year, two serious cross-border terror attacks have been launched at Israel from Sinai, both by terrorist groups affiliated with Al-Qaida.

The Specter of Syrian Chemical Weapons

August 2, 2012 | 0901 GMT
By Scott Stewart

U.S. Army symbol for chemical weapons. The unraveling of the al Assad regime in Syria will produce many geopolitical consequences. One potential consequence has garnered a great deal of media attention in recent days: the possibility of the regime losing control of its chemical weapons stockpile. In an interview aired July 30 on CNN, U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said it would be a "disaster to have those chemical weapons fall into the wrong hands -- hands of Hezbollah or other extremists in that area." When he mentioned other extremists, Panetta was referring to local and transnational jihadists, such as members of the group Jabhat al-Nusra, which has been fighting with other opposition forces against the Syrian regime. He was also referring to the many Palestinian militant groups such as Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, which have long had a presence in Syria and until recently have been supported by the al Assad regime.
This photo shows tear gas in use.The fear is that the jihadists will obtain chemical weapons to use in terrorist attacks against the West. Israel is also concerned that Palestinian groups could use them in terrorist attacks inside Israel or that Hezbollah could use such weapons against the Israelis in a conventional military battle. However, while the security of these weapons is a legitimate concern, it is important to recognize that there are a number of technical and practical considerations that will limit the impact of these weapons even if a militant group were able to obtain them.

Militant Use of Chemical Weapons

Militant groups have long had a fascination with chemical weapons. One of the largest non-state chemical and biological weapons programs in history belonged to the Aum Shinrikyo organization in Japan. The group had large production facilities located in an industrial park that it used to produce thousands of gallons of ineffective biological agents. After the failure of its biological program, it shifted its focus to chemical weapons production and conducted a number of attacks using chemical agents such as hydrogen cyanide gas, phosgene and VX and sarin nerve agents....

Difficult to Employ

Using chemical munitions on the battlefield presents a number of challenges. The first of these is sufficiently concentrating the chemical agent to affect the targeted troops. In order to achieve heavy concentrations of the agent, chemical weapon attacks were usually delivered by a massive artillery bombardment using chemical weapons shells. Soviet military chemical weapons doctrine relied heavily on weapons systems such as batteries of BM-21 multiple rocket launchers, which can be used to deliver a massive amount of ordnance to a targeted area. Additionally, it is very difficult to control the gas cloud created by the massive barrage. There were instances in World War I and in the Iran-Iraq War in which troops were affected by chemical weapon clouds that had been created by their own artillery but had blown back upon them.
Delivering a lethal dose is also a problem in employing chemical weapons in terrorist attacks, as seen by the attacks outlined above. For example, in the March 20, 1995, attack on the Tokyo subway system, Aum Shinrikyo members punctured 11 plastic bags filled with sarin on five different subway trains. Despite the typically very heavy crowds on the trains and in the Tokyo subway stations that morning, the attacks resulted in only 12 deaths -- although thousands of other commuters were sickened by the attack, some severely.
Sulfur MustardThe Syrian regime is thought to have mustard gas as well as tabun, sarin and VX nerve agents in its chemical weapons inventory. Mustard gas, a blistering agent, is the least dangerous of these compounds. In World War I, less than 5 percent of the troops who were exposed to mustard gas died. Tabun and sarin tend to be deployed in a volatile liquid form that evaporates to form a gas. Once in gas form, these agents tend to dissipate somewhat quickly. VX, on the other hand, a viscous nerve agent, was developed to persist in an area after it is delivered in order to prevent an enemy force from massing in or passing through that area. While VX is more persistent, it is more difficult to cause a mass casualty attack with it since droplets of the liquid agent must come into contact with the victim, unlike other agents that evaporate to form a large cloud...
...

Another option for jihadists or Palestinian militants could be to attempt to smuggle the chemical agent into Israel for use in an attack. However, in recent years, increased security measures following past suicide bombing attacks in Israel have caused problems for militant groups smuggling weapons into Israel. The same problems would apply to chemical agents -- especially since border security has already been stepped up again due to the increased flow of weapons from Libya to Gaza.

VX is one of the most lethal nerve agents.Militants could attempt to solve this logistical challenge by launching a warhead or a barrage of warheads into Israel using rockets, but such militant rocket fire tends to be very inaccurate and, like conventional rocket warheads, these chemical warheads would be unlikely to hit any target of value. Even if a rocket landed in a populated area, it would be unlikely to produce many casualties due to the problem of creating a lethal concentration of the agent -- although it would certainly cause a mass panic.
The use of chemical weapons would also undoubtedly spur Israel to retaliate heavily in order to deter additional attacks. This threat of massive retaliation has kept Syria from using chemical weapons against Israel or allowing its militant proxies to use them.
Hezbollah may be the militant organization in the region that could most effectively utilize Syrian chemical munitions. The group possesses a large inventory of artillery rockets, which could be used to deliver the type of barrage attack required for a successful chemical weapon attack. Rumors have been swirling around the region for many months that Libyan rebels sold some chemical munitions to Hezbollah and Hamas. While we have seen confirmed reports that man-portable air-defense systems and other Libyan weapons are being smuggled into Sinai en route to Gaza, there has been no confirmation that chemical rounds are being smuggled out of Libya.

Thursday 5 July 2012, WikiLeaks began publishing the Syria Files – more than two million emails from Syrian political figures, ministries and associated companies, dating from August 2006 to March 2012. This extraordinary data set derives from 680 Syria-related entities or domain names, including those of the Ministries of Presidential Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Information, Transport and Culture. At this time Syria is undergoing a violent internal conflict that has killed between 6,000 and 15,000 people in the last 18 months. The Syria Files shine a light on the inner workings of the Syrian government and economy, but they also reveal how the West and Western companies say one thing and do another.

The Oddly Cordial Letter That the Muslim Brotherhood Sent to Israel

AUG 2 2012, 10:40 AM ET
What we can learn from Egyptian President and Brotherhood leader Mohamed Morsi's note to Israeli President Shimon Peres -- assuming it's real.
amorsi peres.jpg
Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi (left) and his Israeli counterpart, Shimon Peres (right). (Reuters)

...The letter states, "I am looking forward to exerting our best efforts to get the Middle east peace process back to its right track in order to achieve security and stability for all peoples of the region, including that Israeli people." This seems like routine and mundane for a correspondence between the heads of state of Egypt and Israel, but we are talking not about Mohamed Hosni Mubarak and Shimon Peres, but the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi and Peres...

... The same Muslim Brotherhood, which has vowed not to normalize relations with the Israelis until Israel fulfills the Egypt-Israel peace treaty, which from the Brotherhood's perspective demands the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

...several seemingly technical problems with the actual letter has left its authenticity open to question:
  • Whoever wrote the letter, which was in English, spelled the Israeli leader's last name "Perez" instead of "Peres." ...
  • President Morsi's signature does not appear on the letter and there is no presidential seal or stamp on it. ...
  •  The Egyptians are denying that Morsi sent the letter.  Presidential spokesman, Yasser Ali,told al Ahram Gateway that "President Morsi has not sent any letter to the Israeli president."
So what is going on here?...Conspiratorial? Without a doubt, but one can actually understand the logic train in this one, unlike most conspiracy theories.

...The whole episode speaks to the ambiguous nature of Egypt-Israel relations at this moment in Egypt's transition. The letter comes after three Israeli messages to Morsi (two from Peres and one from Prime Minister Netanyahu) that went unanswered. If the note from Morsi is authentic, it is a good sign because it seems to defy predictions (including my own) that relations between the Egyptians and Israelis were going to get tough. Still, Yasser Ali's denial is curious.  ...

---------------end update------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sadly, but not surprisingly, President Vladimir Putin decided that he should support Assad because it would be to Russia's advantage.  Russia hasn't had to do anything except veto the U.N. Security Council resolutions.  They also babbled about negotiations being a better bet in creating a peaceful solution...as if that was even logical.

So, while the Kremlin was continuing to deliver weapons to Assad, masked as old contracts, including attack helicopters, Russian leaders were warning that the West had a plan to bomb Syria and that Russia would protect them.

During this really ignorant process, Syria "leaked" that it actually had a stock pile of chemical weapons, which was something it had been denying.  Assad showed, through it's response to questions by the U.N. and others, that he and his dictatorial regime are not the most intelligent group on this planet.

Meanwhile, President Bashar al-Assad remains in hiding, with only theories of where he is and how he is directing his troops and keeping his regime together.

The main fighting is now in Aleppo and the attack helicopters are being used here in force ...yes, the same attack helicopters provided by the Kremlin.  Evidently, the rebels are taking over one of Assad's main centers of power.

It's interesting that Assad is doing what Bin Laden did until he was found and killed.  Instead of speaking live, Assad is appearing in recorded clips on television and some of his remarks are appearing in the military's magazine.

"The fate of our people and our nation, past, present and future, depends on this battle," said Assad, whose low public profile suggests acute concern over his personal safety since the bombing in which his brother-in-law was among the dead.
In confronting "terrorist criminal gangs" - the government's usual term for the rebels - the army had proved it had "the steely resolve and conscience and that you are the trustees of the people's values," the 46-year-old president declared.
reuters
Aleppo is Syria's biggest city.  At times, the volleys of shells wind up drowning out the Islamic call to prayer.  This does not stop the rebels.  The civil war has continued to intensify with fears that Assad will use the mass stockpile of chemical weapons on his own people, prompting even children in classrooms to try on gas masks.

The civil war is now so horrifying that it has spurred a growing humanitarian crisis.  There is dire need for safe distribution of food and water to the people of Syria. Thousands have fled, but the need is still monumental.

"The humanitarian situation is deteriorating in Aleppo and food needs are growing rapidly," the World Food Programme said.

Right now, the fighting is engulfing Damascus and Aleppo, both of which are prized power holds.

Unfortunately, there is footage that shows that rebels are carrying out summary executions, such as Assad's forces have been accused of taking part in.  Of course, these are videos that are floating around the Internet, so that information may not completely be correct, however, this may be something they have decided was good for their cause, as unfortunate the actions are. I won't go into the details.

It is reported from my sources that neither side has full control of Aleppo or Damascus.  There are many areas that are like ghost towns that have closed shops and empty streets.

It's been reported that some foreign fighters, militant Islamists, have joined the battle.  These who have joined, have joined against Assad.  Additionally, sources say that the rebels now possess almost two dozen surface-to-air missiles that were delivered to them by Turkey.  These missiles will help them fight back against the air fighters that Assad has been using.

Rebels have been battling Assad's regime that obviously has more to use against them.  However, the rebels have been capturing some of Assad's power by capturing some tanks and heavy weapons.  This is confirmed by a reputable source.

Meanwhile, Israel is concerned about the advanced weaponry that may be used against them, that may be transferred to Hezbollah.  The weaponry does include chemical weapons.

As Haaretz reported last month, only 53 percent of Israelis have gas masks. The government has not set a final target date for handing out gas masks, but the issue will be resolved in the discussions on funding the program, Tessler said.
The initial target was to have 4.5 million gas masks distributed by next year, but this goal would probably be met this year, Tessler said.
With the threat of an attack on Iran's nuclear installations and the uncertainty about Syria's chemical weapons, civil defense planners are also concerned about possible missile attacks against civilian targets in a future war.
Still, only 30 percent of Israelis have a reinforced room in their homes and a  quarter have no such shelter either at home or nearby. Home Front Command says Israelis lacking a protected space against chemical or biological weapons should head for the most secure space in their homes and seal it on their own.
"People need to know that they don't have protection, and the solution is the sealed room and the mask," Tessler said. "There are those who view brown adhesive tape cynically, but it saves lives. In many cases, it's the difference between life and death.
Several months ago, the Israel Defense Forces' planning division projected that the number of missiles falling on Israel would be 10 times higher than the number during the 2006 Second Lebanon War. The IDF said several hundred civilians would be killed, and thousands of houses and apartments would be made uninhabitable.
200,000 missiles
Eisenberg has said that at any given moment 200,000 missiles are aimed at Israel.
source:  http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/israel-unlikely-to-be-hit-by-unconventional-weapons-says-home-front-command-chief-1.455065

In conclusion, the outlook is terrifying because Israel may be in planning for a strike against Iran, Iran may be in planning for a strike against Israel, Syria may be in the middle of a power grab that would include Iran and Russia, Russia cannot be trusted by America, Turkey fits in there somewhere, and so forth.

More to come.

Israel On High Alert! Breaking: Syria Moving Chemical Weapons To Border Positions

ISRAEL ON ALERT AS SYRIA MOVES CHEMICAL WEAPONS TO BORDER POSITIONS

 26 Jul 2012, 2:00 AM PDT

Coinciding perfectly with Obama's warning not to use chemical weapons, Assad's government appears to have shifted the location of their chemical weapons for the very purpose against which Obama warned.

According to reports, "Assad has transferred some of [the] weapons and equipment for mixing chemical components to airports on the [Syrian] border."

These same reports indicate that Assad only plans to use the weapons on foreign invaders or "an outside force," which is in keeping with his pledge. But there are obvious concerns that a desperate Assad may take desperate measures if cornered.

Israel is watching to be sure the weapons haven't been placed at the airports in order to be transferred into Lebanon, and from there into the hands of Hezbollah.

In no uncertain terms Israel made things clear: "The moment we see that the Syrians transfer chemical and biological weapons to Hezbollah, this is a red line for us and from our point of view it's a clear cause for war."

The Pentagon has reached an agreement with Lockheed Martin Corp on a $450 million program to enhance electronic warfare equipment on the F-35 fighter jet, and integrate Israeli-unique systems beginning in 2016, sources familiar with the negotiations told Reuters on Thursday.

According to the report, the deal, to be finalized in the coming weeks, marks a big step forward for Israel's $2.75 billion agreement to buy 19 F-35 jets, which was signed in October 2010and includes options for up to 75 of the radar-evading fighters.

The Pentagon said the Israeli foreign arms sale could be worth up to $15.2 billion if all options are exercised, when it first approved the sale in September 2008.

“This agreement kicks off the Israeli program,” one of the sources told Reuters. “Now all of the agreements are in place.”

The F-35 will allow for even greater collaboration in the coming years with Israel, a critical strategic ally for the United States at a time when much of the Middle East is in turmoil.

The deal comes as Defense Secretary Leon Panetta prepares to visit Israel next week where he will discuss heightened tensions with Iran.

Reuters noted that the deal also provides a vote of confidence in the embattled F-35 program, whose cost and technology challenges have overshadowed a year of progress in flight testing.

The deal will allow increased participation in the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program by Israeli companies, including Elbit Systems Ltd. and the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), which will start building wings for the radar-evading warplane.
IAI already builds wings for the F-16 fighter jet, the world's most widely used fighter, also built by Lockheed. Elbit, in a joint venture with Rockwell Collins, makes the advanced helmet used by pilots on the single-seat F-35.

Agreement on development of the new Israeli version of the F-35 will allow Israel to install its own radio and datalink systems, as well as other equipment, on the jets it is buying.

The deal also covers enhancements to the airplane's electronic warfare capabilities that will benefit the United States, Israel and the other nine countries that either have already ordered fighter planes, or plan to in coming years.
The radar-evading, multirole F-35 is the Pentagon's costliest arms purchase, expected to top $396 billion for 2,443 aircraft in three models through the mid-2030s.

Lockheed and its subcontractors are building the stealthy warplane for the U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps along with Britain and seven other co-development partners: Italy, Turkey, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands.

In addition to Israel, Japan also has a signed agreement to buy the F-35, which was designed to replace a range of fighter, strike and ground-attack aircraft, including the F-16.

Weapons of Mass Destruction. Extreme Risk. Should we be surprised?

According to the report by the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism, the United States is at a high risk of a major terror attack before 2013 in which the terrorists will utilize WMD.

"The Commission believes that unless the world community acts decisively and with great urgency, it is more likely than not that a weapon of mass destruction will be used in a terrorist attack somewhere in the world by the end of 2013."

Should we really be surprised?

"The intent of this report is neither to frighten nor to reassure the American
people about the current state of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.
It is to underscore that the U.S. government has yet to fully adapt to these circumstances, and to convey the sobering reality that the risks are growing faster than our multilayered defenses.
Our margin of safety is shrinking, not growing." (bold and italics added)

Their findings included research in the "crossroads of terrorism and proliferation in the poorly governed parts of Pakistan". Thus, should there be any surprise if findings (as already speculated) in the Mumbai, India incident conclude that Pakistan is, in fact, behind those horrific terrorist attacks? Even if Pakistan is presently denying their participation?

"During the course of our fieldwork for this report, the members of the Commission had a near miss—and it served as a reminder of the urgency of our mission and message.

Asked by Congress to recommend ways of preventing weapons of mass destruction proliferation and terrorism, we were on our way to a place where these two concerns intersect—Pakistan. On September 20, 2008, we were in Kuwait City awaiting our connecting flight to Islamabad, where we would be staying at the Marriott Hotel. Suddenly our cell phones began buzzing with breaking news: the Islamabad Marriott had just been devastated by a bomb.

Minutes later, every television set in the airport was showing live footage of our destination. The Marriott was ablaze, a line of fire running its length. The hotel front was a mass of twisted iron and broken concrete. What once had been the lobby was now a huge black crater. More than fifty people lost their lives that day at the Islamabad Marriott, a gathering place for prominent visitors and influential locals.
Within hours, the attack came to be known as Pakistan’s 9/11—a frightening reminder that we live in an age of global terrorism."

It was an unfortunate incident. However, it could have been a statement from any number of terrorist factions that holdout within the Pakistani borders, and are allowed to do so. This is called harboring terrorists and Pakistan and its government are duly aware they are participating in such acts.

A statement in the Preface of the report that I call a "duh" statement reads as follows.

"...weapons will be poorly secured and thus may be stolen by terrorists or by others who intend to sell them."

In other words, "duh".

Those who want to harm will find ways to do harm. Regardless of regulations on any weapon, if someone wants it bad enough, they will find ways to get the weapon. Some may pay a high dollar amount to get the desired weapon. Some may steal the desired weapon. Some may create their own desired weapon. Throughout the ages, those who desired to do harm were able to find ways to do so. Unfortunately, technology has created forms of weapons that can create destruction on such a massive scale that it may be unfathomable for everyday citizens to envision that kind of mass terrorism. However, it is time to open our eyes to the facts that stare squarely at us. There are people who desire to do harm and they will eventually find a way to create the turmoil, fear and death they desire.

"We want to inform our fellow citizens, and thereby empower them to act."

"The Commission further believes that terrorists are more likely to be able to obtain and use a biological weapon than a nuclear weapon." Something that was not mentioned in the mainstream media regarding this detail is that someone could easily utilize a biological weapon in our nation's water supply. Have you ever been enticed or encouraged to gather an emergency supply of water? Perhaps this should be your wake-up call. Should we have an issue with our water supply, the only way to survive is to have a reserve that cannot be tainted by terrorists. This can only happen within our own homes, neighborhoods and cities. It is not something to be fearful of, but to be prepared for.

Another "duh" statement in the Executive Summary of the report states, “The risk of a
nuclear weapon being used today is growing, not receding.” Again, "duh". The technology has been around for a long time now and there are many who desire power, as well as those who desire to defend themselves. It was only a matter of time before this was going to be an issue. It has been an issue long before these public statements. There were probably no public statements prior to now because they were afraid of a mass panic.

"...we concluded early in our deliberations that this report should focus solely on the two types of WMD categories that have the greatest potential to kill in the most massive numbers: biological and nuclear weapons."

Since the 9/11 attacks, the 9/11 Commission reported that there is a shortage in human intelligence within the United States intelligence agencies. This creates only the ability to react to situations instead of always preventing them. Although our intelligence agencies do a great job at identifying many of the threats to our American soil prior to attack so that the attacks can be thwarted, we are unable to fully utilize the agencies to prevent attacks. This poses a great risk to our nation and its people. "Though U.S. policy and strategy have made progress, they have not kept pace with the growing risks." In other words, we need to bulk up the forces in our human intelligence. Sun Tzu said, “Knowledge of the enemy’s dispositions can only be obtained from other men…Hence it is only the enlightened and wise general who will use the highest intelligence of the army...Spies are the most important asset.”, also stating the importance of human intelligence.

The best defense against the terrorist threats we now face is awareness. Not just awareness within the secret halls of governing agencies, but the awareness of the whole nation so that we can work together as a United States of America to combat this enemy.
