OBAMA RUNS FROM LEADERSHIP ON ANOTHER TRIP & DEMANDS RUSSIA TURN OVER SNOWDEN

Is Obama really naive enough to believe that Russian leaders would just pick up the phone and arrange for extradition of Snowden?

While Obama is on a vacation...oops...I mean, a diplomatic trip to Africa, he is spending millions...I mean A LOT OF BUCKAROONIES!  Not only that, but he is escaping from the scandals that are going on right under our noses, in the United States.

"Hundreds of U.S. Secret Service agents will be dispatched to secure facilities in Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania. A Navy aircraft carrier or amphibious ship, with a fully staffed medical trauma center, will be stationed offshore in case of an emergency.
"Military cargo planes will airlift in 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines and three trucks loaded with sheets of bulletproof glass to cover the windows of the hotels where the first family will stay. Fighter jets will fly in shifts, giving 24-hour coverage over the president's airspace, so they can intervene quickly if an errant plane gets too close.
"The elaborate security provisions -- which will cost the government tens of millions of dollars -- are outlined in a confidential internal planning document obtained by The Washington Post
"While the preparations appear to be in line with similar travels in the past, the document offers an unusual glimpse into the colossal efforts to protect the U.S. commander in chief on trips abroad." source: USAToday

One of these scandals is Edward Snowden's leaking of information (that is supposed to be top secret) from the NSA.  Obama is trying to make Snowden's leaks are no big deal and that Russia should just pick up the phone and arrange extradition, as if Russia is actually a "friend" of the United States.  For those keeping up with the current affairs around the globe, we all know that Russia has been supplying our "enemies" with nuclear arms and is on the side of our "enemies", without nice things to say about the United States.  However, Obama seems to think that he is so powerful that Russia should just bow and provide.

THE FOLLOWING VIDEO WAS PUBLISHED ON Jun 24, 2013
Edward Snowden and Wikileaks' Sarah Harrison who is accompanying him are "safe and healthy," Julian Assange said during a conference call broadcast by RT. "The current status of Mr Snowden and Harrison is that both are healthy and safe and they are in contact with their legal teams," the WikiLeaks founder said. "I cannot give further information as to their whereabouts," Assange added. "Snowden is not a traitor, he is not a spy he is a whistleblower who told the public the important truth," he pointed out.

Obama has other issues going on, but through traveling and "campaigning" for his causes, he is avoiding the leadership part in his role as the President of the United States of America.  He is attempting to let things cool off and is attempting to have his cronies take care of attacking whistleblowers, helping him avoid the other scandals, and creating diversions from the attention on these matters.

Meanwhile, there are sites, including Facebook, where there are now "fans" gathering of Edward Snowden.  The longer that Snowden is on the run, the more infamous he is becoming.

As you can see from the video displayed above, the President is avoiding answering questions regarding Snowden.  What a leader!  He sure knows how to make a country great!  NOT!!!  His job is not being done by him.  It's disgusting!

The following is published on Jun 21, 2013
US officials have charged NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden with espionage. They told the Washington Post that federal prosecutors filed a sealed criminal complaint against the now 30-year-old who handed over a series of government documents to the media revealing secret NSA surveillance programs. He has also been charged with theft and conversion of government property. RT's Political Commentator Sam Sacks and Abby Martin, Host of Breaking the Set have had their say on what these charges mean for Snowden.

Are we just supposed to trust Obama?  Snowden is being charged under the Espionage Act.  This is the 5th whistleblower who is being charged under the Espionage Act.  What about whistleblower protection?  People should know what protection they have, and people who work in top security agencies, who have taken an oath of secrecy, should not be revealing things while under these oaths/promises that they have signed.
The following was published on Jun 24, 2013
David Sanger, chief Washington correspondent for The New York Times, shares analysis Edward Snowden's movements and the overall fallout of the global chase for the NSA leaker.

There is no extradition treaty with Russia.  Obama says that there have been "useful conversations with Russia".  What does this mean?  He has no idea that the Russians think that the United States is wrecking the world on purpose.  They especially hate Obama and his administration.  Yes...HATE.

Here is more on what Russia really thinks about the United States.  If Obama starts being a leader, maybe he can start to change things around so that scandals are taken care of in the proper manner and relationships with countries are mended.  However, he seems to feel that being away from the country or "campaigning" is more important.  That is called running away from leadership and taking ownership of the issues you are supposed to be owning.

The Russians Think We’re Wrecking the World on Purpose

March 19th, 2013 - 1:09 pm
“In Russia, most analysts, politicians and ordinary citizens believe in the unlimited might of America, and thus reject the notion that the US has made, and continues to make, mistakes in the [Middle East]. Instead, they assume it’s all a part of a complex plan to restructure the world and to spread global domination,” writes Fyodor Lukyanov on the Al Monitor website today. Lukyanov, who chairs Russia’s Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, laments what he derides as a “conspiracy theory.” Nonetheless, he reports, President Vladimir Putin and the Russian elite think that the United States is spreading chaos as part of a diabolical plot for world domination:
From Russian leadership’s point of view, the Iraq War now looks like the beginning of the accelerated destruction of regional and global stability, undermining the last principles of sustainable world order. Everything that’s happened since — including flirting with Islamists during the Arab Spring, U.S. policies in Libya and its current policies in Syria — serve as evidence of strategic insanity that has taken over the last remaining superpower.
Russia’s persistence on the Syrian issue is the product of this perception. The issue is not sympathy for Syria’s dictator, nor commercial interests, nor naval bases in Tartus. Moscow is certain that if continued crushing of secular authoritarian regimes is allowed because America and the West support “democracy,” it will lead to such destabilization that will overwhelm all, including Russia. It’s therefore necessary for Russia to resist, especially as the West and the United States themselves experience increasing doubts
It’s instructive to view ourselves through a Russian mirror. The term “paranoid Russian” is a pleonasm. “The fact is that all Russian politicians are clever. The stupid ones are all dead. By contrast, America in its complacency promotes dullards. A deadly miscommunication arises from this asymmetry. The Russians cannot believe that the Americans are as stupid as they look, and conclude that Washington wants to destroy them,” I wrote in 2008 under the title “Americans play monopoly, Russians chess.” Russians have dominated chess most of the past century, for good reason: it is the ultimate exercise in paranoia. All the pieces on the board are guided by a single combative mind, and every move is significant. In the real world, human beings flail and blunder. For Russian officials who climbed the greasy pole in the intelligence services, mistakes are unthinkable, for those who made mistakes are long since buried.

The Spread of Illegal Arms From Libya

Libya ‘dangerous arms source’ – Kremlin envoy

Russia has called attention to the fact that the continuing spread of illegal arms from Libya fuels armed conflicts everywhere in North, Northwest and Northeast Africa.

Kremlin envoy Mikhail Margelov discussed this and other matters with Sudanese President Omar Bashir at a meeting in Khartoum on Saturday.

Mr Bashir said his country and South Sudan are close to an agreement on dividing oil-rich border areas, including the Abyei region.

Arms smuggling from Libya, and the future of the fight against al-Qaeda

Elycheikh By: Elycheikh Ahmed Telba

110629-zawaya-photo
Smuggling weapons from Libya for the benefit of al-Qaeda is a serious threat for the entire region, especially sub-Saharan Africa and the Arab Maghreb. This is an outcome of the lack of security in Libya, which is a golden opportunity for al-Qaeda members and arms traffickers to smuggle weapons and strengthen their positions in the region…
Al-Qaeda members have seized this opportunity to enhance their local presence, and impose their agendas on the future through force and armed conflict. Several published studies and research papers assert that AQIM has close ties with rebel military gangs in sub-Saharan Africa, and with Polisario members who smuggle arms and sell drugs in the desert zone that includes Libya, Algeria, and Mauritania, and extends to the Republic of Mali…
Algeria is not the only country to sound the alarm about arms smuggling from Libya for AQIM; the United States also expressed its concerns during the negotiations that brought together a high-level U.S. delegation and Algerian officers in recent weeks. Russia is also concerned about reports it obtained on smuggling Strela missiles from Libya through the Algerian and Tunisian borders…
The Libyan-Algerian borders are wide enough to allow al-Qaeda to smuggle weapons, vehicles and missiles. The borderline between the two countries covers 1,000 kilometers of desert, which is difficult to monitor amidst the current war in Libya and the political tension in Algeria. According to some reports, 10,000 individual weapon pieces and 2,000 rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) have been smuggled since the outbreak of the Libyan war…
Almost all military and press reports state that Algeria is developing a military plan to face al-Qaeda’s smuggling gangs, and impose a security cordon around Dabdab in the Illizi province on the Algerian-Libyan border…
The desert is the source of this geostrategic problem threatening the entire Maghreb. The inability of most countries to secure their borders is encouraging secret organizations like AQIM to smuggle weapons and drugs across the desert…
It’s worth mentioning that the smuggled weapons are transported from Libya across the vast desert to the Malian city of Segu, about 240 kilometers from the capital Bamako. These confidential information drove Mauritania and Mali to face these gangs under a joint agreement aiming to enhance security and fight al-Qaeda whose position is strengthened in the region due to the lack of security, the Libyan civil war, and the post-revolution conditions in Tunisia and Egypt…
Maghreb countries and the international community should join efforts to put an end to al-Qaeda, which is taking advantage of the popular revolutions against dictatorships and the lack of security to smuggle weapons and cooperate with other terrorist organizations. This convergence between al-Qaeda and smuggling and drugs gangs will increase the threat of the organization in the Maghreb in the future…

A rebel makes the victory sign in August 24 2011Tunisian jet attacks arms smugglers near Libyan border

Tunisian military jets have attacked three vehicles loaded with weapons driving near the Libyan border.
The incident happened in a remote part of the Sahara desert where the borders of Libya, Tunisia and Algeria meet.
Reports suggest the cars were travelling from Libya to Algeria.
State media initially reported that all three vehicles were destroyed, but the Associated Press quoted an unnamed security official as saying one car had escaped into Algeria.
The two military planes were apparently on a routine flight and fired on the vehicles after being attacked.
Arms trafficking has exploded in the region since the fall of autocratic leaders in Libya and Tunisia last year.
Military hardware and small arms looted from the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's stockpiles have found their way on to the black market and are often trafficked through hard-to-police desert areas.
There have been several other clashes between Tunisian security forces and armed smugglers crossing the border from Libya and Algeria over the last year.
Venezuela Holds U.S. Vessel And Crew On Suspicion Of Arms Trafficking

Forbes ^ | 6 Sep 2012 | Christopher Helman,

The Venezuelan government has seized a U.S. flagged ship and detained its captain for more than a week. The ship Ocean Atlas has been at port in Maracaibo, Venezuela since August 29. After four hours in port, the ship was boarded by armed security personel, and the captain was detained on suspicion of trafficking in arms or drugs. The rest of the crew of 16 Americans has remained on board under guard. According to a well-placed source arrest warrants have been issued for all of the crewmembers, who are to be taken off the ship for questioning.

Incredibly, my Forbes colleague Jeff Bercovici has been in touch over email with one of the crewmen, Russell Macomber, who has managed to post updates to his Facebook account while under detention. In a sardonic tone, he even relayed that when Venezuelan authorities raided the Ocean Atlas they stole cartons of cigarettes, ate the crew’s ice cream and let their dogs defecate on the deck. Macomber writes that he would like nothing more than an airdrop of Budweiser. Officials at the ship’s operator, Intermarine, did not immediately respond to Forbes’ requests for information. Nor did officials at American Maritime Officers, which is believed to have provided the crew for the ship. A spokeswoman at the Venezuelan embassy in Washington said she would look into the incident.

A spokesman for the Seafarers Union confirmed the seizure to Forbes and said, “The SIU is working feverishly to help resolve this situation and to ensure the safety of all mariners aboard the Ocean Atlas. We are staying in touch with the crew and will continue doing so.”

A U.S. Embassy official in Caracas also confirmed the incident to Reuters earlier today.

More Drone Crashes And/Or Hijackings As Well As Confusion On Locations & Drones For Sale

S drone crashes at Seychelles airport

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — An American military drone which had been used to monitor piracy off the East African coast has crashed at an airport on the island nation of Seychelles during a routine patrol, officials said.
The U.S. Embassy in Mauritius said the unmanned U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper was not armed and that Tuesday's crash caused no injuries. The crash sparked a fire that was quickly extinguished.

Lina Laurence of Seychelles' civilian aviation authority said the drone developed engine problems minutes into its flight and needed to land as soon as possible Tuesday morning.

"But due to its accelerated landing speed, the aircraft was unable to stop before the runway's end," Laurence said.

The embassy's statement said the cause of the crash is being investigated.

"It has been confirmed that this drone was unarmed and its failure was due to mechanical reasons," Laurence said.

The affected runway was closed for about 10 minutes as a "precautionary measure," but was later reopened with no disruption to airport operations, Laurence said.

The U.S. military and the civilian aviation authority of Seychelles have coordinated to remove the debris, officials said.

The MQ-9 Reaper is a medium-to-high altitude unmanned aircraft system with sensors that can provide real-time data. The Seychelles-based MQ-9s, which are used to monitor piracy activities in and around the Indian Ocean, don't carry weapons, though they have the capability to do so.

Tuesday's crash follows last week's claim by Iran that it seized a drone identified as the RQ-170 Sentinel. Tehran said it was captured over the country's east. The nearly intact drone was displayed on state TV and flaunted as a victory for Iran in a complicated intelligence and technological battle with the U.S.

U.S. officials said the unmanned aircraft malfunctioned and was not brought down by Iran. President Barack Obama said Monday the U.S. wants the top-secret aircraft back and has delivered a formal request for the return of the surveillance drone, though it isn't hopeful that Iran will comply.

The U.S. has used drones to hunt down al-Qaida-linked militants in Somalia and Yemen, among other countries. Their humming is a constant feature in the sky in many of the major towns in southern Somalia, especially the capital city and the militant-controlled southern port of Kismayo. It was not clear if drones operated out of the Seychelles are used for that purpose.

Exclusive: Iran hijacked US drone, says Iranian engineer

In an exclusive interview, an engineer working to unlock the secrets of the captured RQ-170 Sentinel says they exploited a known vulnerability and tricked the US drone into landing in Iran.

US drone may have come down in Afghanistan, not Iran

The CIA’s RQ-170 “Sentinel” drone captured by the Iranians last week may have gone down in Afghanistan and then transported to Iran by friendly forces on the ground, a former officer in the elite Quds Force branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards told The Daily Caller.
The United States has never acknowledged that the drone was flying over Iranian airspace — only that ground controllers “lost contact” with the drone and that it probably crashed.
However, photographs and video footage released by the Iranians on Dec. 8, several days after they announced the drone’s capture, clearly show that both wings had been neatly severed and then reattached.

U.S. Pursues Sale of Armed Drones

The Obama administration has been quietly pushing to sell armed drones to key allies, but it has run into resistance from U.S. lawmakers concerned about the proliferation of technology and know-how.
The Pentagon wants more North Atlantic Treaty Organization members to have such pilotless aircraft to ease the burden on the U.S. in Afghanistan and in future conflicts like the alliance's air campaign in Libya this year.
Administration officials recently began informal consultations with lawmakers about prospective sales of armed drones and weapons systems to NATO members Italy and Turkey, while several U.S. allies in the Persian Gulf have been ...

Ahmadinejad: Iran can control U.S. drone
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday that his country has "been able to control" the U.S. drone that Iran claims it recently brought down, Venezuelan state TV reported.
"There are people here who have been able to control this spy plane," Ahmadinejad told VTV. "Those who have been in control of this spy plane surely will analyze the plane's system. Furthermore, the systems of Iran are so advanced also, like the system of this plane."
Ahmadinejad did not elaborate or specify what precisely he meant when he referred to people "who have been able to control" the drone. He spoke in Farsi, which VTV translated into Spanish. The Farsi portion of the interview was not audible.

UPDATE On Last Shuttle Re-Entry...
LAST RE-ENTRY: On July 21st, the crew of the International Space Station photographed an event that will never be repeated: the re-entry of a space shuttle. Marking the end of NASA's 30-year shuttle program, Atlantis dove Earthward in a fiery arc that only six lucky space travelers could see from above:
The green band of light in the background is called "airglow." Airglow is a luminous bubble that surounds our entire planet, decorating the top of the atmosphere with aurora-like color. Although airglow resembles the aurora borealis, its underlying physics is different. Airglow is caused by an assortment of chemical reactions in the upper atmosphere driven mainly by solar ultraviolet radiation; auroras, on the other hand, are prompted by gusts of solar wind.
More pictures from the last flight of Atlantis may be found here.

'Anonymous' (That's their name) Hackers Claim to Breach NATO Security

"We are not scared any more. Your threats to arrest us are meaningless to us as you cannot arrest an idea."
Published July 21, 2011
| FoxNews.com
Hackers claims to have breached NATO security and accessed scads of material so confidential the group itself deemed it "irresponsible" to publish them all, despite a series of international raids Tuesday designed to corral the hacking activity.

The group, which goes by the name "Anonymous," claimed to be sitting on about 1 gigabyte of data. The hackers broadcast a link to a PDF file Thursday via Twitter, showing what appeared to be a document headed "NATO Restricted."

The group's actions have become intolerable, Steven Chabinsky, deputy assistant FBI director, said in an interview with NPR.

"We want to send a message that chaos on the Internet is unacceptable," Chabinsky said. ...

...statement to the FBI and Chabinsky, with a list of things it deems unacceptable: "Governments lying to their citizens and inducing fear and terror to keep them in control ... corporations aiding and conspiring with said governments ... lobby conglomerates who only follow their agenda to push the profits higher."

The group claimed that a second link it tweeted later linked to a second restricted NATO document on "outsourcing CIS in Kosovo (2008)."

Sixteen suspected members of "Anonymous" were arrested ...

Anonymous is a loosely organized group of hackers sympathetic to WikiLeaks. It has claimed responsibility for attacks against corporate and government websites worldwide.

The group also claims credit for disrupting the websites of Visa and MasterCard in December, when the credit card companies stopped processing donations to WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange.

The group's message was clear: In spite of the string of recent arrests, the "hactivism" will continue.

"We are not scared any more. Your threats to arrest us are meaningless to us as you cannot arrest an idea."

Aid agencies deal with terrorists to reach Somalia's starving

By Tim Lister and Barbara Starr, CNN
July 21, 2011 7:51 a.m. EDT

(CNN) -- For aid donors and humanitarian agencies, it is a Faustian bargain: reach and save tens of thousands of people on the verge of starving to death. The price: come to an "understanding" with one of the most active affiliates of al Qaeda, and perhaps help it retain control of large swathes of Somalia.

Such is the equation in the Horn of Africa, where the worst famine in a generation threatens more than ten million people. Many of them live -- or rather cling to life -- in areas of Somalia controlled by the militant Islamist group al Shabaab, which has sworn allegiance to al Qaeda and is designated a terrorist group by the United States.

Previously, al Shabaab has either refused to allow aid agencies to operate in areas it controls, or imposed tight conditions on their work. In 2009 it banned many foreign aid organizations from providing aid in southern Somalia -- describing them as western spies and Christian crusaders. In January 2010, the UN World Food Program pulled its workers out of the region after they were threatened and harassed by the group. That worsened an already parlous humanitarian situation. But now al Shabaab says it is prepared to allow aid groups back into areas it controls.

Last week, the UN Children's Fund, UNICEF, flew emergency supplies into Baidoa, a town under Shabaab's control, for the first time in two years. It said it had unhindered access to those in need.

Tears, congratulations as Atlantis lands, shuttle program ends

By the CNN Wire Staff

Kennedy Space Center, Florida (CNN) -- Soaring across the predawn haze, the space shuttle Atlantis glided back to Earth early Thursday -- capping a 30-year program that saw hundreds of astronauts go into space.
The landing at 5:57 a.m. ET went off without a hitch at Florida's Kennedy Space Center.

But it marked a sentimental finish for the four astronauts, who woke up to "God Bless America" on their final morning in space.

"This one was dedicated to all the men and women who have worked for the space shuttle program in the past three decades," NASA said.

"I saw grown men and grown women crying today," said Mike Leinbach, space shuttle launch director. "Tears of joy, to be sure ... human emotions came out on the runway today. You couldn't suppress them."

London (CNN) -- A British police investigation into illegal activity by journalists appears to have expanded beyond Rupert Murdoch's disgraced News of the World tabloid to many other newspapers.

The Metropolitan Police have asked the British Information Commissioner's Office for its files from a probe into the work of a private investigator who sold illegally obtained information to a wide range of newspapers, the data-protection office told CNN Thursday.

The papers named in the Information Commissioner's 2006 report include the Daily Mail, Daily Mirror and News of the World.

A police spokesman declined to confirm what lines of inquiry the Met was pursing as it probes claims of illegal eavesdropping and police bribery by journalists.

The scandal over phone-hacking by News of the World forced the paper to close, prompted two top police officers to resign, and has put pressure on Prime Minister David Cameron, who hired a former editor of the paper to be his spokesman.

Police added 15 more officers to the investigation, boosting the existing team to 60, the officer in charge of the case said Wednesday.

The increase comes in response to "a surge of enquiries and requests for assistance from the public and solicitors," Deputy Assistant Commissioner Sue Akers said.

Police were already plowing through 11,000 pages of documents seized from a private investigator before they requested the additional files from the Information Commissioner.

The request for files from the Information Commissioner investigation came three months ago, the commissioner's office said Thursday.

Record highs broken in slew of cities

By the CNN Wire Staff
July 21, 2011 12:02 p.m. EDT

(CNN) -- The blistering heat wave that has brought stifling conditions to much of the United States broke 55 record highs on Wednesday, the National Weather Service said Thursday. That's more than 1% of all temperature records in the country.

Another 60 records were tied Wednesday, the weather service said.

As many as 22 deaths are blamed on the heat, the service said. Spokesman Pat Slattery said that includes 13 deaths in Missouri that officials say could be heat-related.

Excessive heat and humidity are "expected to expand into the Ohio Valley and East Coast states for the remainder of the week," the weather service said in its forecast Thursday.

The highest heat index values -- how hot it feels -- "are expected across parts of the Midwest, Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic, where they are forecast to be between 105 and 115 degrees through Friday, with locally higher values possible," the forecast said.

"Excessive heat watches, warnings and heat advisories are in effect over much of the central U.S., Ohio Valley and from the Carolinas northward into New England."

Among the records broken Wednesday were temperatures in Walsh, Colorado, at 104, Garden City, Kansas, at 108, and Gage, Oklahoma, at 107, according to preliminary reports...

Hugh Hefner: I missed a bullet

Hugh Hefner: I missed a bullet

It's been a bit of time now since perpetual playboy Hugh Hefner was jilted by his much younger fiancee, Crystal Harris, and now he says he "missed a bullet" with the scrapped nuptials.

Hef told "Entertainment Tonight" that he is "doing very, very well under the circumstances."

"As Holly [Madison, his ex-girlfriend] observed, she suggested that I missed a bullet, and I think it's probably true," he said.

Hefner, who is as well known for his bevy of decades younger girlfriends as he is for founding Playboy magazine, said he was marrying "to give her that sense of security."

Angelina Jolie: My kids eat crickets

When Angelina Jolie tells her kids to clean their plates, there very well could be an insect or two on them.
As she explained of her family's travels to Cambodia in a video for her Louis Vuitton Core Values shoot, she introduced her son Maddox, 9 - who's adopted from the country - and the rest of her brood to fried crickets.
"My boys love to eat crickets. It’s their favorite thing," she says.
"When I first gave it to them, I thought, I wanted them to understand culturally, I didn’t want them to be turned off by something that was their culture," Jolie goes on.
But when they began to get hooked on the crispy treats, she grew a little worried. "They ate them like Doritos and they wouldn’t stop. They brought to-go boxes home and I had to actually ban the cricket eating at a certain point because I was afraid they’d get sick from too many."

Bright UFO was seen and recorded over London, UK 18-Jul-2011

Latest UFO sightings - Unkown bright object was filmed hovering above London, UK on Monday, 18th July 2011 at 9:20 pm.

Witness report18/07/11 at 21:20 to 25 browsingon my computer there was this distinctive light next to the building shown, which at start, I presumed it was a plain. Few minutes after at 21:30 I looked again, out of my window and to my suprise the flying object was still there. At 21:32 got my cell phone and I started capturing the unidentified flying object. In comparison there happened to be an airplane passing by on the left. It was significantly bigger than the plane and standing still until it started moving away really fast. Definitely a UFO, alien ship, I have no idea.
