Abnormal Weather in Japan
The rainy season has started in Japan. It was 20 days earlier than last year.
Wheat Faces Abnormal Weather, Disease Pressure
MAY 16, 2011
An unusually cold, wet spring has added to the many problems that have beset Indiana wheat acreage the past several months, a Purdue Extension wheat specialist says."Wheat acres in Indiana have had a challenging season since last fall: bone-dry soils at planting affected stand establishment; the prolonged winter with freezing rain, sleet and snow affected winter survival; and cold, wet soils during green-up affected nitrogen topdressing timings and rates," said Shaun Casteel. "The recent colder temperatures are now causing some abnormal growth of wheat that is near the heading stage."
Tornado hits Sialkot – Abnormal Weather continues in Punjab!
As I said in my earlier post of March 6 “March and Tornadoes” that tornadoes do form in March in Pakistan that only happens when a western disturbance is passing through the country, thus on March 19 a killer tornado hit the sports-manufacturing city of Punjab, Sialkot. Rainfall quantity could not be recorded since the tornado occurred in the remote villages of Sialkot. The villages included Machchraala, Chakraala and Buhadarpura. The winds of this tornado was 200 mph (322 kph), it was a F4 tornado on the Fujita scale. http://karachimetrological.wordpress.com/2011/03/20/tornado-hits-pakistan/
April 14–16, 2011 tornado outbreak
One of the largest single-system tornado outbreaks (at the time) in United States history occurred from April 14 to 16, 2011, resulting in at least 200+ confirmed tornadoes across 16 states and severe destruction on all three days of the outbreak. A total of 38 people were killed from tornadoes and an additional five people were killed as a result of straight-line winds associated with the storm system. The outbreak of severe weather and tornadoes has led to 43 deaths in the Southern United States.[1][2] This was the largest number of fatalities in an outbreak in the United States since the 2008 Super Tuesday tornado outbreak.[3] This outbreak was significantly exceeded less than two weeks later by an even larger tornado outbreak, which killed at least 344 people http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_14%E2%80%9316,_2011_tornado_outbreak
May 21–27, 2011 tornado outbreak sequence
The May 21–27, 2011 tornado outbreak was a deadly tornado outbreak across the Midwestern and Southern regions of the United States. Most of the tornadoes developed in a corridor from Lake Superior southwest to central Texas; isolated tornadoes occurred in other areas. An especially powerful tornadodestroyed one-third of Joplin, Missouri, resulting in 153 deaths and 900 injuries.[4] The Joplin tornado is the deadliest in the US since April 9, 1947, when an intense tornado killed 181 in the Woodward, Oklahoma area. Tornado-related deaths also occurred in Arkansas, Kansas, Minnesota, and Oklahoma. Overall, the tornado outbreak resulted in 178 deaths, making it second only to the 2011 Super Outbreak as the deadliest since 1974. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_21%E2%80%9327,_2011_tornado_outbreak_sequence

Magnitude 9.0 - NEAR THE EAST COAST OF HONSHU, JAPAN
2011 March 11 05:46:23 UTC
The magnitude 9.0 Tohoku earthquake on March 11, 2011, which occurred near the northeast coast of Honshu, Japan, resulted from thrust faulting on or near the subduction zone plate boundary between the Pacific and North America plates. At the latitude of this earthquake, the Pacific plate moves approximately westwards with respect to the North America plate at a rate of 83 mm/yr, and begins its westward descent beneath Japan at the Japan Trench. Note that some authors divide this region into several microplates that together define the relative motions between the larger Pacific, North America and Eurasia plates; these include the Okhotsk and Amur microplates that are respectively part of North America and Eurasia.
The location, depth, and focal mechanism of the March 11 earthquake are consistent with the event having occurred on the subduction zone plate boundary. Modeling of the rupture of this earthquake indicate that the fault moved upwards of 30-40 m, and slipped over an area approximately 300 km long (along-strike) by 150 km wide (in the down-dip direction). The rupture zone is roughly centered on the earthquake epicenter along-strike, while peak slips were up-dip of the hypocenter, towards the Japan Trench axis. The March 11 earthquake was preceded by a series of large foreshocks over the previous two days, beginning on March 9th with a M 7.2 event approximately 40 km from the epicenter of the March 11 earthquake, and continuing with another three earthquakes greater than M 6 on the same day. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqinthenews/2011/usc0001xgp/#summary

MIDDLE EAST UPRISING
(Syrian-Turkish border, June 10, 2011) - Human Rights Watch consultant We are at Karbeyaz (a village close to the border). Since the main refugee camp in Yayladagi has reached capacity, Turkish authorities have been ferrying new Syrian refugees from the border to a tobacco factory in the town of Altınözü. The villagers at Karbeyaz told us that the Turkish authorities are building new camps 35 kms away near the village of Hacıpaşa. Turkish authorities are providing food, shelter, and medical treatment to the refugees, but are preventing journalists, activists, and local residents from speaking to the refugees. Villagers also told us that two wounded Syrian soldiers crossed the border into Turkey. They had apparently “escaped” and arrived by themselves (rather than with a large group, which is how most refugees are arriving). We were told that one soldier has since died, while the other was taken to hospital by ambulance. However, when we visited the two hospitals in Antakya, we did not come across any soldiers in the hospital, and the nurses didn’t know of any when we asked. There is wire fencing running along the border. There are three official crossing points: Guvecci, Karbeyaz and Reyhanli. It seems that most people would rather not cross the border irregularly, but prefer to go the official crossing points and ask the Turkish border authorities to allow them entry. Report: Bin Laden Already DeadWednesday, December 26, 2001 Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, thePakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader. "The Coalition troops are engaged in a mad search operation but they would never be able to fulfill their cherished goal of getting Usama alive or dead," the source said. Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief. About 30 close associates of bin Laden in Al Qaeda, including his most trusted and personal bodyguards, his family members and some "Taliban friends," attended the funeral rites. A volley of bullets was also fired to pay final tribute to the "great leader." The Taliban source who claims to have seen bin Laden's face before burial said "he looked pale ... Second time...but calm, relaxed and confident." Asked whether bin Laden had any feelings of remorse before death, the source vehemently said "no." Instead, he said, bin Laden was proud that he succeeded in his mission of igniting awareness amongst Muslims about hegemonistic designs and conspiracies of "pagans" against Islam. Bin Laden, he said, held the view that the sacrifice of a few hundred people in Afghanistan was nothing, as those who laid their lives in creating an atmosphere of resistance will be adequately rewarded by Almighty Allah. When asked where bin Laden was buried, the source said, "I am sure that like other places in Tora Bora, that particular place too must have vanished." Usama Bin Laden Killed in Firefight With U.S. Special Ops Team in PakistanPublished May 02, 2011 | FoxNews.com Declaring “justice has been done,” President Obama announced late Sunday that Usama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces in Pakistan, marking the end of the worldwide manhunt that began nearly a decade ago on Sept. 11, 2001. The president made the stunning announcement within hours of informing congressional leaders. He said bin Laden was killed Sunday, the culmination of years of intelligence gathering. The news drew a large crowd to the front of the White House, as well as in Times Square, as people chanted “U-S-A. U-S-A.” Or I could write about the Rapture...or the lack of... Or I could write about Comet Elenin...
WILL EARTHBOUND COMET FULFILL 2012 PROPHECY?
It's nearly 300 million miles away and barreling toward us. The intruder from deep space, called called comet Elenin, crosses Earth's orbit on its inbound leg and again on its outbound swing around the sun later this year.
Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin discovered the innocuous little comet on Dec. 10, 2010, at International Scientific Optical Network's robotic observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico.
Presently the comet is a faint smudge of light in deep sky exposures. By late August comet Elenin should be visible to the naked eye as a dim "fuzzy star" with a tail. Over a few weeks the visitor will speed across the spring constellation Virgo and toward Leo on its outbound leg.
... There are numerous "Cometgate" allegations of news media and government cover-up, and the existence of hidden comet shelters for U.S. officials...

E.coli "caused by beansprouts"
Outbreak ... mutant E.coli strain is spreading around the world
GettyBRITAIN has fallen prey to what is now the world's deadliest E.coli plague ever - likely to have been caused by German beansprouts.
Lower Saxony agriculture ministry spokesman Gert Hahne revealed today his state was sending a warning people to stop eating the sprouts, often used in mixed salads.
Experts issued a global alert as cases - mainly in Germany where the mutant strain first struck - hit 1,823.
By last night the number killed by the bug stood at 22. Four more people here were revealed to be battling it - taking the toll to 11.
Originally medics were baffled by how people are catching it.
Germany originally blamed CUCUMBERS from Spain.
Alert ... where bug has hit
Brits travelling to Germany are being urged by the Health Protection Agency to avoid LETTUCE and all leafy salads.
The warning includes raw TOMATOES - as the HPA vowed to work "flat out" solving the riddle which could clear salad entirely.
Yesterday furious producers here feared a huge slump in sales - despite Brit produce so far being clear. Nigel Jenney, of the Fresh Produce Consortium, stormed: "It is vital we have urgent clarification of the source of this outbreak."
Four Germans were among seven people revealed to be stricken in the UK on Thursday. The others were Brits recently back from Germany.
The nationalities of the four new victims were not revealed. But of the 11, three have potentially deadly complications such as kidney damage. Seventeen of those who have died were in Germany. The other fatality was in Sweden. Thirteen out of the 18 have been women. The bug has now spread to 12 countries, including America.
Robert Tauxe, of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, warned it had already killed more people and caused more severe kidney damage than any E.coli outbreak on record. Asked if it was the world's deadliest outbreak, he said grimly: "I believe it is."
The Health Protection Agency urged calm - advice Brits appeared to be heeding. Tesco reported "no change in sales of salad" - and supplier Florette said demand remained healthy.

E Coli Plague Hits Germany Hard; German Hospitals are Struggling to Keep Up
German health authorities say bean sprouts grown in the north of the country are likely to be the cause of the E coli outbreak. Photograph: Gero Breloer/AP
German hospitals are struggling to cope with the surge in patients caused by the E coli outbreak, as the death toll from the virus rose to 21.

The health minister, Daniel Bahr, said hospitals in northern Germany were finding it difficult to provide enough beds and treatment for patients, with the total number of cases increasing to 2,200.
"We're facing a tense situation with patient care," Bahr said, "but we will manage it."
Agriculture officials said that bean sprouts grown in one organic farm between Hamburg and Hanover were the likely cause of the illness.
Hospital authorities said blood supplies were running low and staff were exhausted and working round-the-clock, with the northern cities of Hamburg and Bremen the worst affected.
"They [the doctors] voluntarily come in on weekends and even sleep here," Oliver Grieve, a spokesman for the Kiel University hospital in northern Germany told Spiegel Online.
Hamburg's health minister, Cornelia Prüfer-Storcks, told a news conference the city was considering bringing doctors out of retirement. "We want to discuss with doctors about whether those who recently retired can be reactivated," she said.
Patients with less serious illnesses are now being moved to nearby hospitals and operations for non-threatening diseases are being postponed.
A spokesman for Regio Clinics, the largest private hospital in the state of Schleswig Holstein, told Reuters: "All the hospitals in the region are pushing their limits. We can handle it but some of our patients have to be sent to other hospitals, especially those with HUS [haemolytic uraemic syndrome] or needing dialysis."
Extra nurses are being recruited from southern Germany to plug the gaps.
Meanwhile patients have described "horrendous" conditions in some hospitals. One said poor hygiene standards were contributing to the problem.
"All of us had diarrhoea and there was only one bathroom each for men and women, it was a complete mess," Nicoletta Pabst told the Associated Press. "If I hadn't been sick with E coli by then, I probably would have picked it up over there."
She said she had waited three hours to be seen before being sent home, apparently because her blood levels did not indicate that she had kidney failure. Her condition deteriorated and she had to call an ambulance the next morning, she said. She was hospitalised for a week at a different hospital.
German EColi has Bubonic Plague DNA: Bean Sprouts Bacteria Contains Plague DNA
http://www.maggiesnotebook.com/2011/06/german-ecoli-has-bubonic-plague-dna-bean-sprouts-bacteria-contains-plague-dna/The E.Coli outbreak in Europe and mainly northern Germany has killed 16 or 17 so far with German kidney dialysis stations in the area full. It is believed organically grown bean sprouts there have been found to be infected with a deadly strain of usually harmless E.Coli, now morphed into the strain O104:H31 – so rare that it is only documented one previous time in history (Korea). The first reported case was in Germany, mid-May, in the area of Hamburg. Cases are reported in Britain, Austria, Denmark, The Netherlands and Sweden. Here is a round-up of some of this breaking news
Despite the increase in the death toll, authorities said the number of new cases had started to decline.http://www.maggiesnotebook.com/2011/06/german-ecoli-has-bubonic-plague-dna-bean-sprouts-bacteria-contains-plague-dna/
