Congress to avoid sequestration

(CNSNews.com) – At a meeting with the National Governors Association on Monday, President Barack Obama closed his prepared speech by saying he wanted the press cleared out of the room so he could take some questions.
After saying he looked forward to working with the governors to build a “thriving middle class," Obama said: “That’s our goal, and I know that’s the goal of all of you as well. So I look forward to our partnering--and with that, what I want to do is clear out the press so we can take some questions."

Like Obama Said, You Are Only Successful Because of the Government, Right?

"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business. you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet. The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together."

Here is the difference between those who succeed and those who do not in America.  It has nothing to do with the government.  Hypothetically, there are two people.  Both people are taking advantage of the same roads, bridges, cops, firefighters and other things that the government has put into place "to create a successful environment".  However, one succeeds and one does not.  So, why is it that those who become successful are being demonized?  URGH!

Interesting how the United States Constitution is no longer being honored...

Preamble
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the united States of America."

Notice the words "and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity"..."our Posterity" will be slaves to the national debt and the taxes imposed from all of the government instigated programs.

200% Civil Penalties

The following are two bills that need attention that are going through the process in Congress at this time. These will cost money to all who are already suffering in these trying times. Call your representatives!

Comprehensive Transform America Transaction Fee Act of 2009

H. R. 1703
To require a study and comprehensive analytical report on transforming America by reforming the Federal tax code through elimination of all Federal taxes on individuals and corporations and replacing the Federal tax code with a transaction fee-based system.

S.826 American Renewable Energy Act of 2009

(The following is a small part of the new tax issues)

b) Renewable Electricity Requirement-

`(1) REQUIREMENT-

`(A) IN GENERAL- Subject to subparagraph (B), each electric utility that sells electricity to electric consumers shall obtain a percentage of the base quantity of electricity the electric utility sells to electric consumers in any calendar year from new renewable energy or existing renewable energy.

`(B) PERCENTAGE- The percentage obtained in a calendar year under subparagraph (A) shall not be less than the amount specified in the following table:

`(2) AMOUNT OF PENALTY- Subject to paragraph (3), the amount of the civil penalty shall be equal to the product obtained by multiplying--

`(A) the number of kilowatt-hours of electric energy sold to electric consumers in violation of subsection (b); by

`(B) the greater of--

`(i) 2 cents (adjusted for inflation under subsection (g)); or

`(ii) 200 percent of the average market value of renewable energy credits during the year in which the violation occurred.

Economy Stabilized.

News media outlets reports that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has stated that the economy has stabilized.

Whoohoo! Let's celebrate!

Wait...do we trust that he actually knows something about this subject or that he is telling the truth? He didn't pay his taxes and made the excuse that it was a mistake and that he didn't know he hadn't paid. So, does he actually know what is going on with the economy, or is this a prediction made for strategic political confidence?

As much as we could all use the positive news that the economy is possibly getting better, I'd trust a psychic prediction more than I'd trust Geithner on the subject of the economy (not to mention nearly any other subject).

A taxing lesson.

Here's an email I received from a friend.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes
to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something
like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and
seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a
curve.

"Since you are all such good customers", he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost
of your daily beer by $20". Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first
four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the
other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so
that everyone would get his "fair share?"

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from
everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being
paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to
reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out
the amounts each should pay.

And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to
drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their
savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the
tenth man, "but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's
unfair that he got ten times more than I!"

"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got
only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at
all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and
had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered
something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even
half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax
system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a
tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just
may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the
atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed.

For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

Don’t Be Fooled, Obama Plans to Raise Everyone’s Taxes“Stuff the beast!”

…is extremely committed to entitlement reform and is plotting politically feasible ways to reduce Social Security as well as health spending. The White House folks didn’t say this, but I got the impression they’d be willing to raise taxes on the bottom 95 percent of earners as part of an overall package.”

There you have it: We already knew that Obama wants to raise taxes, substantially, on the top 5 percent of earners. And now we know that he and his people want to raise taxes on 100 percent of us.

President Obama's explanation during his press conference Monday of a comment made last week by Vice President Joe Biden appears to raise that question.

"If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, if we stand up there and we really make the tough decisions, there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong."

Since the vice president brought it up, can you tell the American people, sir, what you were talking about? And if not, can you at least reassure them it wasn't the stimulus bill or the bank rescue plan and if, in general, you agree with that ratio of success, 30 percent failure, 70 percent success?

Note to self: When trying to improve ties with a former Cold War-era foe, check a dictionary.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton learned that lesson the hard way Friday when she presented Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a gift bearing an incorrect translation -- one that implied hostility, rather than peacemaking.

Clinton presented Lavrov with a gift-wrapped red button, which said "Reset" in English and "Peregruzka" in Russian. The problem was, "peregruzka" doesn't mean reset. It means overcharged, or overloaded. For more information CLICK HERE

The Articles of the Confederation, Number VIII

"All charges of war, and all other expenses that shall be incurred for the common defence or general welfare, and allowed by the United States in Congress assembled, shall be defrayed out of a common treasury, which shall be supplied by the several states in proportion to the value of all land within each state, granted to or surveyed for any person, as such land and the buildings and improvements thereon shall be estimated, according to such mode as the United States, in Congress assembled, shall from time to time direct and appoint. The taxes for paying that proportion shall be laid and levied by the authority and direction of the legistatures of the several states within the time agreed upon by the United States, in Congress assembled." -- The Articles of Confederations, Article Number VII
