The Law of Giving:
The universe operates through dynamic exchange...giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe.
And in our willingness to give that which we seek, we keep the abundance of the universe circulating in our lives.

Health Advice for Our Time.
An email was sent to me from a friend giving excellent medical advice...
Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ..... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
AND.....
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
AND REMEMBER:
'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride!'

Belated Mother's Day
Sorry I haven't posted anything in the last few days. I had to have surgery because of a broken nose and it has been kind of fun. Well, not really, but I couldn't post because of the pain meds. Therefore, since I am still on pain meds, here is a belated Mother's Day post. I'll be back to as normal as I get soon. Thanks for reading!

Flying.
Funny thoughts on flying...
If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?
You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Noticing the Positive.
It seems like world stress is rising sharply. And why not? Why do government officials continue to hammer the worse possible case scenarios? Why does it seem like everything is in crisis mode? Don't the officials know that through media their attitude of crisis will get blown into an even worse situation, including the emotional instability of the country, and for that matter, the world?
Why continue to bog the world down with attitudes that the crisis is only going to get worse...no matter which crisis they are discussing (economic, North Korean Missile, etc.).
Let's start to build the country up with stories about the good that is going on. Don't you agree that by building-up the country the instability might turn to stability? It's time to get off of this emotional roller coaster!
What's good in the world today? Here are a few things that should bring hope to everyone.
As the economy tightens, volunteerism is on the rise...people are willing to help those in need. Which state is number one in the United States for volunteerism? Utah!
Rankings for Utah
■Volunteer Rate Ranking: 1st within the 50 states and Washington D.C.
■Average Volunteer Rate: 43.9%
■Volunteer Hours Ranking: 1st within the 50 states and Washington D.C.
■Average Volunteer Hours per Resident: 81.3 hours
Volunteer Information
Another positive...
Have you watched children play lately? Have you noticed how they, no matter their situation, find a way to use their imagination, to smile, to enjoy life? We could all take a lesson from children! Laugh, smile, use your imagination!
Plus, the sun came up today! Amazing...that is a great thing! The world cannot be all that bad!
Take a moment today to find something positive, recognize it, enjoy it, and smile...it's good for you.

"Invocation for Harmony and Joy", Meditation for Happiness
The following is an "invocation for harmony and joy" from Yoga Journal, page 22, September 2008.
"Loka Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu (Low-Kaah Suh-Muh-Staah Soo-khee-no Bhuh-vuhn-tu)
May everyone everywhere be happy.
May the whole world be joyous.
This prayer doesn't invoke a specific divinity and so isn't, strictly speaking, a mantra. But it is a well-known and beautiful Sanskrit blessing.
Blessings are intentional, focused thought-forms that have the power to affect the world, which, according to yogic philosophy, is shaped by consciousness. When a blessing is heard and echoed in the hearts of others, its power is reinforced.
Try bringing this blessing into your daily practice by chanting it at the end of your asana sequence or before meditation, and notice its subtle effect."
